Job Summary:
The Bakery Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bakery department. This includes supervising staff, managing production schedules, maintaining inventory, ensuring food safety and sanitation, and delivering exceptional customer service. The Bakery Manager is accountable for product quality, department appearance, and meeting sales and profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all bakery operations including baking, packaging, merchandising, and customer service.
  • Hire, train, schedule, and supervise bakery staff.
  • Plan and manage daily production to ensure fresh product availability and minimal waste.
  • Ensure all products meet company quality standards and presentation guidelines.
  • Maintain inventory levels, place orders, and receive deliveries.
  • Monitor and minimize shrink, spoilage, and waste.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of prep areas, display cases, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Follow and enforce food safety, sanitation, and OSHA regulations.
  • Create and maintain attractive product displays and seasonal promotions.
  • Provide excellent customer service, handle special orders, and resolve customer issues.
  • Monitor department performance and report to Store Manager.
  • Ensure all bakery-related signage and pricing is accurate and up to date.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; culinary or baking certification a plus.
  • 2+ years of bakery or food service experience, including at least 1 year in a leadership role.
  • ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification required (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Strong knowledge of baking techniques, equipment, and ingredients.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Basic computer skills for scheduling, ordering, and reporting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in warm or hot environments for extended periods.
  • Availability to work flexible hours including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Working Conditions:
  • Work is performed in a fast-paced, hot environment with ovens and food preparation equipment.
  • Standing, lifting, bending, and repetitive motion required throughout the shift.
  • Occasional freezer or cooler exposure for ingredient storage.
