Job description

Join the team of service minded Computer Systems Technicians! We have an immediate full-time Computer Systems Technician position open at our Wisconsin production facility. 

The WI Information Technology Systems Technician is responsible for providing infrastructure and process support for ITS manufacturing plant operations by interfacing with the WI facility and UT corporate office and will be responsible for local network administration, Microsoft 365, and Windows, Linux, and MacOS level support to ensure that such applications are functional. The incumbent also assists with the installation and management of low voltage electrical apparatus and PLC components to help ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the plant.
Systems Technician Duties

  • Monitors servers and systems to ensure they are meeting performance expectations.
  • Performs basic server room maintenance and upkeep including maintaining network cables, routers, switches, firewalls, etc.
  • Enters commands and observes systems functions to verify correct system operation.
  • Reviews computer-related software applications or computer programs to ensure that Plant standards are met and that programs are capable of being integrated with other software applications as required.
  • Tests, reviews, and documents system related procedures such as: Operational, Security, Backup and Restore, and Disaster Recovery for all WI facility platforms according to established standards.
  • Attends technical conferences and seminars to keep abreast of new software and hardware product developments as requested by the ITS Manager.
  • Communicates any important information to the ITS Manager.

Computer Systems Support Duties

  • Serves as a liaison between the WI facility and UT ITS Department.
  • Provides continuous support and training to users to assure proper use of the equipment and software applications following established operational procedures; Responds to needs and questions of users concerning their access to various ITS resources.
  • Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs ITS hardware and equipment.
  • Installs and tests technology related hardware and software components such as monitors, keyboards, printers, scanners, etc. on user’s premises.
  • Manages WI hardware and software inventory; Submits requests for parts replacement to the ITS Manager as needed.
  • Loads specified software packages such as operating systems, word processing, or spreadsheet programs onto computer.
  • Replaces defective or inadequate software packages.
  • Cleans office printers and scanners, and replaces toner as needed.

Microsoft 365 & Business Systems

  • Support and maintain Microsoft 365 services (e.g., email, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive) at the site level.
  • Assist with administration and support of key business systems and applications.
  • Work with ITS Department to implement system updates, enhancements, and user training initiatives.

Electronic Maintenance Duties

  • Assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of all PLC and sensors as needed.
  • Ability to understand and program PLC tag information in Kepware to organize and add to historian.
  • Assists with laying out, assembling, installing, maintaining, and repairing low voltage electrical apparatus, such as emergency lighting, paging systems, phone systems, timeclock systems, cameras, etc.
  • Maintains camera and video information systems to ensure that they are operating effectively.
  • Completes low voltage electro-mechanical tasks as assigned, including physical troubleshooting of components, wiring, etc.

Security & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies, standards, and best practices.
  • Identify and escalate potential security risks, vulnerabilities, or incidents.
  • Support implementation of security controls, user access management, and awareness initiatives.

Network & Connectivity

  • Oversee site network performance, reliability, and connectivity (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi).
  • Coordinate with network teams and vendors to resolve connectivity issues and implement improvements.
  • Support network infrastructure upgrades and expansions as needed.

Web Development

  • Monitors web server and site technical performance; facilitates web maintenance as necessary.

Other Duties

  • Assigned to or assists in other departments or areas of the WI plant when ITS Technician workload is low or completed. Backs-up other IT team members in their duties as necessary.
  • Shares knowledge by supporting the training and development of team members (e.g., demonstrating tasks, explaining procedures, answering questions, providing guidance, and modeling consistent, high-quality work).
  • Communicates effectively with team members, leadership, and end users.
  • Follows all company safety, security, and data protection policies.
  • Maintains punctuality. Is attentive to job duties while at work. Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.
  • Demonstrates flexibility to work alternate shifts as needed. Certain ITS tasks may require work outside normal operating hours, including Fridays and Saturdays, to align with production and facility needs.
  • Works onsite at the WI plant facility unless alternative arrangements (e.g., approved offsite training) are authorized by the ITS Manager.
  • Attends the weekly Company and ITS meetings on Microsoft Teams.
  • Actively participates in and supports company culture initiatives and continuous improvement programs such as Arbinger and Lean programs.
