Job description

Theatre Program Student Worker

This posting is to establish a pool of qualified applicants. The department may not be actively recruiting. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year. San Bernardino Community College District accepts applications for Federal Work Study, hourly positions for our two college campuses (San Bernardino Valley College and Crafton Hills College) on a continuous basis. However, this does not imply the department is actively recruiting for this position. If there is an interest and/or need within the specific department, applicants who meet the requirements will be contacted by the respective department manager. Applications submitted will remain active for up to one (1) year.

Student worker will assist Theatre program with needs including basic secretarial duties, helping with productions or other duties assigned.

  • Filing of information in regards to productions.
  • Assists the director in a variety of basic backstage and rehearsal tasks
  • Assist with filing and dissemination of information
  • Assists with prop and costuming inventory
  • Help with other production needs

Minimum Requirements:

  • Students must have a Federal Work Study award letter for the current academic year
  • Students must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
  • Students cannot fall below half-time (6+ units) during their employment under the FWS program.
  • Students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 units
  • Students must have a minimum of 2.0 GPA
  • Students must have a current TB
  • Ability to follow directions to carry out the duties as assigned
  • Familiarity with various equipment/tools used in the program and/or have completed some courses in the specific program or related field
  • Student must have taken at least one course in theatre arts
  • Additional if applicable Must be competent with basic excel and other word processing software. Background in theatre is helpful but not required. Some work may be asked to help with lighting and sound equipment

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting. Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to occasionally lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 25 pounds; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents; and to operate assigned equipment. Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

  • Other pre-employment requirements may be required depending on the position (i.e. certifications or licenses; see job posting qualifications section for details).
