Job Summary
The Department of Computer Science in the Colleges of Science and Engineering at Purdue University invites applications for multiple Tenure-Track Faculty positions at the Assistant or Associate Professor level on our West Lafayette and Indianapolis locations.
Purdue University has launched a new major initiative, Purdue Computes, consisting of three dimensions (Computing, Physical Artificial Intelligence, and Semiconductors) that will connect faculty and students from across the institution and enable the university to advance to the forefront with unparalleled excellence at scale. As part of this initiative, Computing is on track to add 50 new positions by 2030. Purdue Computes offers a stimulating academic environment with active research programs in almost all areas of computing.
The Department of Computer Science offers undergraduate programs in Computer Science, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence, in both our West Lafayette and Indianapolis locations, as well as graduate MS and PhD programs. Job Summary
While we are interested in hiring in all areas of Computer Science, we are particularly focused on areas that can drive as well as benefit from the AI revolution. Domains of particular interest include Computer Vision and Computer Graphics; Natural Language Processing and Large Language Models; all aspects of Quantum Computing; explainable and ethical AI; programming languages and formal methods for AI systems; as well as applications of AI in the life sciences. We are also interested in systems that can drive scalable infrastructure for modern machine Learning and AI, including OS, networking, mobile computing, databases, distributed systems, and scalable infrastructures for ML, as well as the interplay between AI systems and security and privacy.
Purdue's Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) is also hiring in support of Purdue Computes, and opportunities for courtesy or joint appointments across both departments will be considered. Purdue is one of the nation's leading land-grant universities, with an enrollment of over 50,000 students primarily focused on STEM subjects.

The cover letter should also include the preferred location (West Lafayette or Indianapolis). Qualifications
Qualifications:
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline by the employment start date, and demonstrate potential to build an independent research program, as well as the potential to educate and mentor students. A successful candidate will conduct original research, advise graduate students, teach undergraduate and graduate level courses, and perform service at the School, College, and University levels.
