Company Overview

B&B Manufacturing, LLC., a Solve IMG company, produces and distributes custom and standard synchronous drive products that include timing belts, timing belt pulleys, roller chain sprockets, gears and related parts for the power transmission and precision mechanical component industries. We supply distributors and manufacturers with thousands of various components. As we continue to scale, we are seeking an experienced Hob (gear cutting) Operator to add to our 2nd shift manufacturing team.

The Hob Operator position is a 2nd shift position working Mon-Thurs 3:30pm-2am with overtime worked on Friday, as needed. Second shift positions receive a $2 per hour shift differential.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Run parts as directed with the ability to interpret work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Run multiple hobs as set up with the ability to change parts insuring alignment, including basic math. Experience with hob machines is helpful, but not required.
  • Verifies settings by measuring parts (i.e. T.I.R. O.D, I.D, etc.), first-run and production parts, and workpieces; adhering to documented and engineered standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing grooving, and tooth cutting, including piece part operation run-out, taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; making minor adjusts and operating controls; identifying worn tools for replacement; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Any other task assigned by management

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be:

  • Knowledgeable in the verification of parts produced with the use of varied measurement gauges which would allow for modifying off-sets to meet customer engineering drawing specifications.
  • Knowledgeable and willingness to operate machines at a demanding pace.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic to generate the correct finished dimensions.
  • Must possess skills in: monitoring performance of self or organization to make improvements or take corrective action; watching gauges, dial, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly; Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems; conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance; controlling operations of equipment or systems; identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

Abilities:

  • Good listening, problem sensitivity, quick response reaching time, arm-hand steadiness and rate control.
  • Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining and entering accurate information in B&B ERP system.
  • Analyzing information and evaluation results to choose the best solution and solve problems.
  • Providing information to supervisors, co-workers via telephone, written form, e-mail or in person.
  • The ability to meet strict deadlines or be able to communicate those that cannot be met.
  • Must follow all safety procedures and policies as mandated by B&B.
  • Ability to stand on hard surface for the entire work shift.
  • Frequent walking.
