Multi-Craft Industrial Maintenance Technician - 1st Shift - Pay up to $40/hr

Job Description

The 1st Shift Multi-Craft Industrial Maintenance Technician supports a plastic injection manufacturing facility by performing primarily electrical and some mechanical maintenance on production and facility equipment. Working Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in Rittman, OH, this role focuses on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on automated injection molding lines, robotics, and associated support systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation.

Responsibilities

  • Perform industrial and facilities maintenance with an approximate mix of 75% electrical and 25% mechanical work on plastic production equipment.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on automated injection mold lines, chillers and cooling systems, vacuums and grippers, servos, sensors, switches, conveyors, Fanuc robots, and related equipment.
  • Work safely and confidently with 480V and 3-phase power on a regular basis, following all safety procedures and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including motion controls, servos, and PLC-related issues on production machinery.
  • Perform general millwright and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs to minimize downtime and improve equipment reliability.
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic equipment and components used in plastic injection and related processes.
  • Diagnose and repair pneumatic systems, including vacuums, grippers, and other air-driven components.
  • Support plumbing-related maintenance for chillers and cooling systems to ensure proper temperature control and equipment performance.
  • Apply knowledge of motion controls and thermodynamics to identify and resolve automation and electrical maintenance issues.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage as required by facility procedures.
  • Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work, support continuous improvement, and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures when working with chemicals and in hot, non-climate-controlled areas of the plant.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on electrical maintenance experience working with 480V power systems.
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining motion controls, servos, and PLC-driven equipment.
  • Proven ability to perform hydraulic repairs on industrial equipment and components.
  • Proven ability to perform pneumatic repairs, including vacuums and grippers.
  • General mechanical repair skills, including mechanical troubleshooting and basic millwright capabilities.
  • Ability to work safely with 3-phase power and industrial electrical systems.
  • Comfort working in a plastic injection or similar industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work occasionally with chemicals while following appropriate safety protocols.
  • Willingness and physical ability to work in a hot, non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in electrical maintenance and automation, including understanding of motion controls and thermodynamics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in a plastics manufacturing environment, such as plastic injection or blow molding, is preferred.
  • Experience in injection molding or similar processes is highly beneficial.
  • Experience with plumbing related to chillers and cooling systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with 3-axis Fanuc robots and their maintenance and troubleshooting is desirable.
  • Exposure to hydraulics, pneumatics, servos, sensors, switches, injection molding, blow molding, preventive maintenance, chillers, cooling systems, vacuums, grippers, conveyors, 3-phase power, and motors is advantageous.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a small to mid-sized team in a growing manufacturing environment.
  • Attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety and cleanliness on the production floor.

Work Environment

The role is based in a small to mid-sized, family-owned plastic injection manufacturing facility with approximately 90 employees and continued growth. The plant operates as a plastic injection environment that is not climate controlled, so it can be hot at times, and you must be comfortable working in these conditions and occasionally with chemicals. The facility is very clean, organized, and safety-focused, with newer equipment and a strong emphasis on maintaining a safe work area. You will work a 1st shift schedule from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The owner and leadership team are actively present on the production floor and maintain a relational, approachable culture. The main products produced include clear plastic drawers for refrigerators and other organization shelves that are supplied directly to major retail customers. Appropriate personal protective equipment is provided to support safe work practices.

The pay range for this position is $58000.00 - $82000.00/yr.
