About the Role
Ocean Computer Group, a Lockstep Technology Group company, is seeking a Technical Account Manager to join our team in Matawan, New Jersey. This is a highly client-facing role that serves as the technical bridge between our customers and the broader Ocean team, partnering closely with Account Executives, our vCIO, and technical resources to ensure clients receive proactive, strategic, and responsive IT support.
The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation along with the ability to build trusted client relationships and translate complex technology into clear, business-focused recommendations. You'll help guide clients through technical needs and improvements, support onboarding and technology reviews, serve as an escalation point when needed, and identify opportunities to strengthen their IT environments and overall partnership with Ocean.
What You'll Own
  • Serve as an extension of the Account Executive and vCIO, supporting clients' ongoing technical and business needs.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with key client stakeholders and sponsors.
  • Conduct technical reviews and provide recommendations for solutions, enhancements, and improvements aligned with each client's business needs.
  • Manage the technical onboarding of new clients, including tool deployment and data and documentation collection.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for issues requiring advanced troubleshooting, vendor involvement, or support beyond the Help Desk.
  • Perform technology audits and reconciliations to help ensure client environments align with industry best practices.
  • Manage client expectations, communicate progress, and ensure technical deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
  • Track key account metrics and communicate account health, progress, and needs to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to improve client environments, strengthen relationships, and support account growth.
  • Collaborate across sales, technical, and service teams to deliver an exceptional client experience.

Requirements
What We're Looking For
  • Proven experience in Technical Account Management, IT consulting, managed services, or a similar client-facing technical role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, VMware and other hypervisors, and computer hardware and infrastructure.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and confidently serve as an escalation resource when needed.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts and recommendations for non-technical audiences.
  • Experience managing multiple client relationships, stakeholders, priorities, and projects simultaneously.
  • Strong customer-service mindset with the ability to listen, understand client needs, and build trusted relationships.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and follow-through.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.
