IoT Integration Engineer

About the Role:

Shipcom is looking for a strong IoT Integration Engineer to take on a key role within our development team. You will lead integrations with various IoT providers to solve critical, real-world business challenges and take ownership of backend systems integration, ensuring seamless communication across devices, platforms, and enterprise applications. This is a hands-on role focused on shaping and executing the technical architecture behind our IoT platform. You’ll build and manage scalable backend services to support real-time data flow from connected devices and work closely with front-end teams to ensure a cohesive user experience. Your contributions will directly impact system reliability, performance, and usability across multiple industries. You’ll also lead backend integrations involving RFID/RTLS hardware, middleware platforms, and asset tracking frameworks. Experience with C#, Microsoft technologies, and enterprise systems like IBM Maximo is required, as you’ll support a large-scale asset management and digital transformation initiative. The ideal candidate combines strong development skills with the ability to architect robust data pipelines that bridge physical hardware and enterprise software. This is a unique opportunity to join a fast-moving, cross-functional team with high visibility. You’ll help drive mission-critical solutions and shape the product roadmap as Shipcom scales its IoT footprint to meet the demands of enterprise clients focused on performance, security, and agility.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:
  • Leading or supporting cross-functional solution design efforts involving applications, IoT platforms, data and analytics, networks, and security
  • Taking accountability for solution requirement definitions, conceptual, and high- and low-level design artifact generation for solutions involving IoT, plant / manufacturing data, and Azure analytics
  • Integrating using Rest APIs, AMQP, MQTT protocols and .Net Core with the IoT Providers
  • Helping maintain a roadmap of IoT technical architecture services
  • Developing expertise in areas of technical need (e.g., for emerging technologies in IoT)
  • Supporting IoT team mvp exercises
  • Supporting IoT technology and edge computing solution design efforts
  • Helping maintain and develop technical standards
  • Helping develop cross-functional technical services, including DevOps pipelines, test automation, infrastructure as code, digital-self-service
  • Supporting vendor reviews, including vetting IoT and SaaS vendors
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of IT experience
  • 3+ years of Solid experience with cloud solution design patterns (microservices, messaging, distributed caching, containers etc.)
  • 3+ years of Extensive working experience with .NET, React and Kubernetes
  • 3+ years of IoT experience, including experience on at least two of the following three technologies: Azure, IoT Hub, Industrial IoT
  • 3+ years of IT technical design experience overall (either exclusively or across applications, data, IoT infrastructure, networks, or security)
  • 2+ Years of IoT Edge Computing
  • 2+ Years of solution technical design involving Microsoft Azure, including both high-level solution design, and detailed technical design
  • Past experience in Big Data and Advanced Analytics technical architecture, preferably Microsoft Azure
  • Past experience Scalable IoT Ecosystem design, including networking and sensor integration
  • Azure Solution Architect certification preferred
