Job description

Job Summary:
PlanIT Group is seeking an AWS Cloud Architect to support our Federal customer in the Washington, DC area. The ideal candidate will lead a group of engineers in a multi-account and complex network environment to deliver services to customers, maintain and update infrastructure, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and modernize preexisting environments.
Responsibilities:
• Lead a group of engineers in a multi-account and complex network environment to deliver services to customers, maintain and update infrastructure, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and modernize preexisting environments.
• Lead cloud migration efforts by providing technical knowledge and expertise to customers.
• Provide guidance on AWS service usage, cost optimization, and cloud-native architecture best practices.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation.
• Ensure alignment with Zero Trust Architecture, TIC 3.0, and agency specific policies.
• Support the development of cloud security plans, including ATO packages and continuous monitoring strategies.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 10+ years of experience in IT with at least 5 years focused on AWS cloud architecture.
• Strong experience with scripting and troubleshooting code in languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Experience leading a team of engineers in a cloud and/or hybrid-cloud environment.
• Experience working on federal government projects and knowledge of federal cloud compliance frameworks (e.g., FedRAMP).
• Lead cloud migration efforts by providing technical knowledge and expertise to customers.
• Provide guidance on AWS service usage, cost optimization, and cloud-native architecture best practices.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using AWS CloudFormation.
• Ensure alignment with Zero Trust Architecture, TIC 3.0, and agency specific policies.
• Support the development of cloud security plans, including ATO packages and continuous monitoring strategies.
• Demonstrated experience designing an evaluated Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA)
• Must be able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance
• Pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.
• All candidates must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident.
• Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
• Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
Preferred:
• AWS-based certifications preferred (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect)
• Direct experience implementing artificial intelligence (AI) cloud platforms (e.g., Amazon BedRock, Azure OpenAI, Lex, Comprehend, etc.) to include Large Language Model and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) technology.
