Job description

Symetra is seeking an AVP, Independent Channel Operations and Strategic Solutions to join our team!

About the role

In this role, you will be responsible for shaping and improving the end-to-end experience for Symetra's Independent Broker Dealer (IBD) channel. You will partner across Distribution, Operations, Product, Technology, Compliance, and other functions to identify opportunities, solve business challenges, and drive strategic initiatives that improve advisor experience, operational effectiveness, and business results. You will combine strategy, operations, and cross-functional leadership to ensure channel priorities are clearly defined, effectively executed, and aligned with organizational goals.

What you will do

  • Strategy & Business Leadership
    • Lead the strategy and evolution of the Independent Broker Dealer channel experience.
    • Partner with senior leaders to identify priorities, improve operational performance, and enhance ease of doing business.
    • Use customer, advisor, operational, and business insights to identify opportunities and recommend solutions.
    • Influence strategic roadmaps and ensure channel needs are represented in business and technology initiatives.
    • Provide thought leadership and drive execution of high-impact, cross-functional programs.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership
    • Collaborate with internal partners to prioritize initiatives and improve outcomes.
    • Balance customer experience, operational efficiency, risk management, and business objectives when making recommendations.

Compensation

Salary Range: $141,600-$236,000 plus eligibility for annual bonus program and long-term incentive plan

Who You Are

  • 15+ years of experience in financial services, insurance, wealth management, distribution operations, customer experience, product operations, or related fields.
  • Experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives and influencing executive-level stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of Independent Broker Dealer distribution or similar advisor-focused distribution models.
  • Demonstrated success improving customer, advisor, or operational experiences through strategic initiatives.
  • Skilled at using data, customer feedback, and business insights to prioritize work and drive decisions.
  • Proven ability to translate strategy into measurable outcomes.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and leadership skills.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred. High school diploma required.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Travel

Required Training & Professional Development
All newly hired people leaders with direct reportsare required tocomplete a comprehensive leadership development program within their first year. This program includes both virtual and in-person training. The in-person sessions will take place at Symetra's corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington.Symetra covers all travel and accommodation expenses.
