Job description

THE ROLE

Avocado is currently looking for a Shipping Associate to be part of the Shipping Team. This role will report to the Shipping Manager.

The Shipping Associate will be responsible for shipping outbound packages, maintaining accurate inventory, and input data into different spreadsheets and documents. This role will also follow up on orders by contacting carriers such as FedEx and UPS. This candidate will be part of a dynamic, fast-growing team maintaining control of all inventory items produced and purchased.

*Note on Location: Here at Avocado Green Brands, we treasure teamwork and working together in person. Depending on the role, you will be working on-site at one of our Fullerton locations.

*Note on Pay Transparency:. The pay range for this role is $17.00 - $19.63 Hourly.


WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON

  • Prepare, package, and ship outbound packages and freight in an accurate and timely manner.

  • Maintain inventory accuracy by keeping the shipping area clean, organized, and up to date.

  • Update shipping paperwork and input accurate data into spreadsheets, systems, and shipping platforms.

  • Communicate regularly with carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS) to follow up on orders, resolve issues, and ensure on-time deliveries.

  • Schedule orders for pickup and coordinate trailer pickups as needed.

  • Assist other departments with shipping, receiving, and inventory control tasks as assigned.

  • Promote and uphold Avocado's safety culture while adhering to all company and Cal/OSHA safety regulations.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy.

  • Ability to lift and move heavy items safely (team lifts required for bulky items).

  • Forklift experience preferred, but not required (training available).

  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and data entry.

  • Ability to follow shipping procedures, schedules, and documentation requirements.

  • Safety-first mindset: able to identify hazards and report incidents promptly.

  • Regular and predictable attendance.

  • Positive, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to learn.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Strength & Lifting

  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. regularly.

  • Team-lifting required for heavier or oversized items.

Movement & Dexterity

  • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching.

  • Manual dexterity to prepare packages, operate pallet jacks, and handle shipping tools.

  • Ability to scan, label, and process items quickly and accurately.

Endurance

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (8-10 hour shifts).

  • Repetitive movements required for packaging and labeling.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to warehouse equipment, forklifts, pallet jacks, and moving freight.

  • Moderate noise and temperature variations in the warehouse setting.

Protective Equipment

  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety shoes, and other gear as required.
