Job description

Avocado is building one of the world's most sustainable brands - certified organic mattresses, pillows, bedding, and solid wood furniture made to the highest independently verified organic and safety standards. We're radically honest and transparent about how we source and manufacture our products. After a decade of building the most certified product line in the category, we're scaling fast across DTC, our showrooms, and retail partners - and doing it without compromising the standards that got us here.

As a mission-driven company, Avocado asks all employees to uphold our standards of environmental and social responsibility and to support the initiatives and strategies that help us continue raising the bar on what it means to be a sustainable company.

About Avocado:

  • Certified B Corporation, third-party verified for environmental and social performance.
  • The only mattress brand certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 Class I on finished products - alongside GOTS, GOLS, GREENGUARD Gold, MADE SAFE, and FSC certifications across our product line.

  • A member of 1% for the Planet, giving 1% of mattress revenues to vetted environmental nonprofits.

  • Nearly 90% of our manufacturing waste is diverted from landfills.

  • Directly involved across our supply chain, with more than 325,000 sheep producing organic wool in partnership with pastoral families in Himachal Pradesh, India, and co-produced organic latex through our partner farms.

THE ROLE

Avocado is seeking a Director of Paid Social to lead paid social efforts within our Marketing team, reporting to the Vice President of Digital Marketing.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on operator who can run paid social end-to-end. Fluent in Meta, with a solid command of Reddit, TikTok, Pinterest, and emerging social platforms. They make data-informed decisions, test relentlessly, and understand that every dollar both builds the brand and is measured against revenue. They know how paid social fits into the broader media mix and how to coordinate across DTC, retail showroom, and wholesale channels - including direct collaboration with our retail partners on cooperative ad campaigns that drive traffic to their stores and ours. This role is an individual contributor position - your leverage comes from directing agency partners, collaborating cross-functionally, and leading through expertise.

Note on Location: Hybrid schedule based out of our Fullerton, CA headquarters, with 1-2 days remote. Willing to consider fully remote for exceptional candidates.

Note on Pay Transparency: The pay range for this role is $140,000-$175,000 yearly. This role is bonus-eligible, with a bonus tied to company and individual performance.

WHAT YOU'LL BE WORKING ON

  • Own paid social strategy and execution across Meta, Reddit, TikTok, Pinterest, and other emerging platforms; driving revenue and traffic to our retail showrooms.

  • Build, optimize, and scale campaigns supporting new product launches, promotions, store openings, and brand initiatives.

  • Partner directly with our retail partners on cooperative ad campaigns - coordinating creative, budgets, geo-targeting, and reporting to drive traffic to their locations and strengthen our wholesale relationships.

  • Operate hands-on in every platform: campaign builds, audience and creative testing, bid strategy, troubleshooting; while directing our agency partners on creative, production, and day-to-day management.

  • Use Northbeam (our MTA) and platform-native tools to measure performance, reconcile attribution discrepancies, and make decisions grounded in incrementality and contribution, not just last-click.

  • Rigorously test ad copy, creative, landing pages, audiences, and placements; operating from the principle that every campaign is simultaneously branding, testing, and optimizing.

  • Partner with creative and brand teams to develop messaging across the full buyer's journey, from awareness through conversion.

  • Partner with the Brand team to translate organic, influencer, and UGC performance into paid social - scaling top-performing content and messaging, managing whitelisting execution with influencer and brand leads, and feeding learnings back regularly to inform influencer briefs, content production, and partnership decisions across affiliate, PR, and partner activations.

  • Coordinate with internal teams and channel partners to improve full-funnel efficiency, manage pacing against performance targets, and ensure paid social contributes appropriately to the broader media mix.

  • Build and deliver executive-level performance reporting - synthesizing platform data, Northbeam outputs, and channel context into clear narratives for the VP of Digital Marketing and senior leadership, with recommendations on testing roadmaps, budget reallocation, and emerging channel investments.

  • Stay current on platform updates, ad product launches, measurement methodology, and AI-enabled creative and optimization tools.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 7+ years managing paid social campaigns with a proven track record of driving revenue and efficient growth at scale (DTC or e-commerce essential, premium or considered-purchase categories a plus).

  • Deep, hands-on expertise in Meta Ads Manager - campaign structure, audience strategy, creative testing frameworks, bid strategy, product catalog (CAPI, DABA, Advantage+ Shopping Campaigns, Andromeda), and troubleshooting at the platform level. You can run things yourself when you need to.

  • Hands-on design and copywriting expertise - comfortable producing and editing ad creative directly in tools like Canva, Sketch, or Adobe, and writing sharp, conversion-focused ad copy across formats and platforms.

  • Working command of Reddit, TikTok Ads, Pinterest Ads, and emerging social platforms, with a clear point of view on where to invest and where to wait.

  • Fluency with attribution and measurement platforms (Northbeam, Shopify, GA4) and a strong POV on how to triangulate them.

  • Experience operating as a senior individual contributor - directing agency partners on production and day-to-day execution while owning strategy, prioritization, and performance internally.

  • Experience running co-op or partner-funded ad campaigns in a wholesale or retail environment is a meaningful differentiator.

  • A testing mindset - you treat every campaign as both branding and performance, structure tests rigorously, and read results without confirmation bias.

  • Strong creative instincts and the ability to brief, evaluate, and iterate on ad creative - including familiarity with AI-enabled creative tools and how to use them without losing brand discipline.

  • Comfort with budget pacing, forecasting, and reconciling discrepancies across reporting systems.

  • Excellent written communication and the ability to make a clear, evidence-based case to senior leadership.

  • Genuine interest in sustainability, organic products, and the values that guide how Avocado is working to change how mission-driven business is done.

  • Ability to effectively communicate.

  • Regular and predictable attendance.
