With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Overview

Theย Seniorย Maintenance Technical Writerย takesย ownership ofย planningย and authoringย ASD S1000D data modulesย in simplified technical English,ย editing and obtaining internal and FAA approval of the contentย of the Instructions for Continued Airworthinessย including: theย Aircraft Maintenance Manual,ย Illustrated Parts Catalog, Structural Repair Manual, Wiring Diagram Manual, Component Maintenance Manuals, and other documents as needed.ย Tasks typicallyย range from creation of original contentย to editorial reviewย andย rework of content asย requiredย as it evolves.ย haveย a deep understanding of technical documentation development principles,ย such asย developmentย traceabilityย andย configuration management of documentationย throughout a product's life cycle.ย 

This is a temporary, hybrid position based in Marina, CA. Employees are required to work onsite at least three (3) days per week.

Responsibilities
  • Gather and analyzeย source documentationย createdย by subject matter experts (SMEs)ย 
  • Authorย end-user documentation in S1000D data modules based on sourceย dataย 
  • Creationย ofย specifications for illustrationsย required in all maintenance documents in coordination with illustrators and engineers
  • Build relationships withย fabricators and maintainers of test articleย aircraftย toย facilitateย documentation ofย all information and instructionsย neededย to supportย requiredย maintenance activitiesย andย initial type certificationย ofย anย aircraftย 
  • Build and maintain S1000D Data Module Requirements Lists (DMRLs)ย 
  • Trackingย documents during creation,ย reviewย and approval processes, and throughout their life cycle, using tools such as Jira,ย SmartSheet,ย and GPSLย Xignalย 
  • Facilitateย review and approvalย ofย publicationย contentย 
  • Applyingย broad aviationย and projectย experience in innovative ways that propel theย programย toward successย 
  • Participateย in department hiring processes byย interviewingย applicants and providing feedbackย to the group leadย 
  • Participate inย the development,ย documentation,ย and revisionย ofย departmentย processes,ย procedures,ย and controlsย 
  • Participate inย AI agentic toolย developmentย to automate and accelerateย team workflows and processes.ย 
  • Provideย mentorshipย and professional developmentย supportย toย newย and less experiencedย teamย membersย 
  • Takeย ownership ofย andย leadย special project activitiesย proactively,ย asย neededย ย

Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering, aviation, communication,ย businessย or related subjectย 
  • 8+ย years of overall technical authoring experienceย 
  • 5+ years structuredย authoring experienceย such asย ASD S1000D / ATAย iSpecย 2200ย / ASDย /ย STEย 100ย 
  • Excellent English language technical writing skillsย 
  • Ability to turn complex engineering information into clear, concise, and understandable processes,ย proceduresย and guidanceย 
  • Ability to ask questionsย thatย tease out detail and nuanceย 
  • Meticulous attention to detailย 
  • Experience creating specifications for illustrations to clarify, simplify and promote end-user understanding of complex conceptsย 
  • Previousย experience developing maintenance publications for government aviation regulatory authorities,ย such as the FAAย andย EASA,ย in support ofย aircraftย type certification within project deadlinesย 
  • Previousย experienceย providing mentorshipย and professional developmentย supportย to more junior team membersย 
  • Experience using the Microsoft Office Suite (e.g.ย Word, Excel, PowerPoint)ย 
  • Relevant experienceย and educationย will be consideredย

Additional Information

The target base pay for this position is $43 - $52/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
