Summary: Performs diagnostic radiographic procedures, or Mammography on patients and works with members of the Hospital District and the community to improve the delivery of patient care.


Responsibilities:

TECHNICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


IF also Radiologic Technologist:


  1. Performs diagnostic radiology procedures on patients under radiologist supervision.
  2. Follows body substance isolation policies to include frequent hand washing and cleaning all patient contact surfaces after each patient.
  3. Verifies orders for accurate patient, exam, diagnosis, and laterality.
  4. Properly educates patients regarding procedure and all associated preparations.
  5. Positions patient properly. (Maintains acceptable repeat rate 4-6 %.)

21. Properly enters patient identification and exam information prior to study/ assists physicians in doing same.

22. Prints or exports studies to PACS following each exam.

23. Maintains ultrasound equipment, gel warmer, reporting problems to supervisor.

24. Consistently wears gloves on scanning hand.


IF also MRI Technologist:

25. Obtains images as required by protocol manual for each exam.

26. Properly enters patient identification and exam information prior to study.

27. Prints or exports studies to PACS following each exam.

28. Maintains MRI equipment, coils, injectors reporting problems to supervisor.

29. Consistently educates and ensures safety to the public from dangers associated with magnetic field.


IF also MAMMOGRAPHY Technologist:

30. Obtains images as required by protocol manual for each exam.

31. Properly enters patient identification and exam information prior to study.

32. Prints or exports studies to PACS following each exam.

33. Maintains mammography equipment, paddles, printer reporting problems to supervisor.

34. Performs all regulatory QA and associated communication consistent with ACR, FDA, and MQSA protocols.


Secondary Responsibilities:

  1. Assists in scheduling exams, giving necessary prep information.
  2. Assists in maintaining daily patient exam log.
  3. Sends exams to HPRA and scans in associated consents, questionnaires, worksheets, and reports.
  4. Follows procedures for burning CD’s for patient transfer or printing, checking out, maintaining log of all imaging transfers
Requirements:

Education and Experience Requirements

1. (minimum) Graduate of 2-year accredited program in Radiologic Sciences (Associate or Certificate)


Prior Work Experience:

1. Exemplary clinical education skills. One-year experience as registered RT preferred.

2. Ability to work with computers, Windows OS, Microsoft Office


Technical Training:

1. Proficient with computed radiography, digital radiography, PACS, EMR's, teleradiology.

2. Prior didactic and/or clinical training in CT, US, MRI, or Mammography preferred or must be willing to train in CT or other modalities.


Licensure, Registry, Certification:

1. Registered technologist ARRT (R)

2. Texas Board of Medical Examiners General Medical Radiologic Technologist GMRT

3. Current CPR
