Job description

At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive.
Flexdrive is a subsidiary of Lyft that works together with Lyft teams to realize our shared mission.
Flexdrive builds the operational backbone for the future of mobility. As a leader in fleet management and a Lyft subsidiary, we're extending our expertise into autonomous vehicle (AV) infrastructure - managing the physical operations that keep AV fleets safe, available, and performing at scale. Our Nashville depot is the first proof point in a multi-market expansion, and we're building the leadership team to sustain and scale it.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, AV Operations you'll be instrumental in owning and evolving the operational playbooks for our AV operations. You'll act as the primary operational leader, responsible for creating the strategic framework, executing complex projects, and ensuring the seamless functioning of our AV support infrastructure in close partnership with our AV technology partners.
This role is for a hands-on leader with a unique blend of strategic foresight, project management excellence, and deep operational knowledge within the AV or complex fleet management space. If you thrive in ambiguous environments, are adept at building from the ground up, and possess the business acumen to drive efficiency and scalability, enabling our AV operations to thrive, we encourage you to apply.
Responsibilities:
  • Execution & Site Management
    • Daily Operational Execution:Lead the day-to-day execution of critical operational systems and processes for our 24/7 AV fleet management operations, including depot layout adherence, vehicle flow (charging, cleaning, maintenance, staging, diagnostics), parts management, and data handling.
    • Operational Resource Management: Manage operational resources (equipment, technology, consumables, staffing) efficiently on a daily basis to ensure maximum uptime and operational readiness.
    • Technology Utilization: Execute operational procedures using necessary technologies and tools to enable efficient AV operations within the depot environment.
  • Operational Excellence & Management
    • Site Leadership: Serve as the primary operational head for the AV depot, driving daily performance, hands-on problem-solving, and ensuring adherence to all operational and safety protocols.
    • Performance Monitoring & Optimization: Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for depot operations (e.g., vehicle uptime, turnaround time, maintenance efficiency, cost per vehicle) and swiftly address operational bottlenecks.
    • Process Execution & Refinement: Execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs), and safety protocols for all aspects of AV fleet management within the depot environment. Identify practical improvements and roll them out to the team.
    • Floor Presence: Maintain a strong floor presence, leading by example and directly supporting the team during peak operational periods or complex troubleshooting events.
  • Stakeholder, Partner & Team Collaboration
    • Team Management & Enablement: Manage the AV operators and technicians, handling scheduling, performance management, training, and fostering a positive, safety-first culture on the shop floor.
    • Partner Relationship Management: Work closely with our AV technology partners on the ground, ensuring their operational needs are met and collaborating on joint initiatives for fleet health and performance.
    • Vendor Execution: Oversee daily interactions with external vendors and partners for equipment, services, and facility needs.
    • Regulatory & Compliance: Enforce all operations guidelines to adhere to local, state, and federal regulations for autonomous vehicles, commercial fleet management, and workplace safety.
Experience:
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in site management, general management, or operational leadership, with a strong understanding of complex fleet management, logistics, or autonomous vehicle (AV) operations.
  • Proven track record of managing established operational sites, with a focus on executing playbooks, driving daily efficiency, and managing physical infrastructure.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed, to effectively support and lead a 24/7 AV depot operation.
  • Exceptional people management skills, including proficiency in shift scheduling, performance management, and building a strong safety and operational culture.
  • Highly analytical and practical mindset, capable of interpreting daily performance data to drive immediate improvements in efficiency and productivity.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability in fast-paced operational environments, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to lead on-site teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or equivalent practical experience.
Benefits:
  • Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options with additional programs available when enrolled
  • Mental health benefits
  • Family building benefits
  • Child care and pet benefits
  • 401(k) plan with company match to help save for your future
  • In addition to 12 observed holidays, salaried team members have discretionary paid time off, hourly team members have 15 days paid time off
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible
