Av Director information

What does an AV director do?

An AV Director oversees all aspects of audio-visual production for events, presentations, or broadcasts. Their responsibilities include managing technical teams, selecting and operating equipment, coordinating with event organizers, and ensuring high-quality sound and visuals. They often troubleshoot issues on the spot and provide creative input to enhance the audience's experience. AV Directors work in various settings, such as conferences, concerts, corporate meetings, and live broadcasts, ensuring that all AV elements run smoothly.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AV director, and why are they important?

To thrive as an AV Director, you need deep expertise in audio-visual technology, event production, and team management, often supported by a degree in communications or related field and several years of industry experience. Familiarity with AV control systems, digital audio consoles, video switchers, and certifications such as CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) are highly valuable. Leadership, problem-solving, and strong communication skills set exceptional AV Directors apart, enabling them to lead teams and deliver seamless events. These skills ensure the effective execution of live or virtual events, minimize technical issues, and guarantee high-quality audience experiences.

How does an AV director typically collaborate with other departments during large-scale events?

An AV Director frequently works closely with event planners, technical staff, and venue managers to ensure all audio-visual elements align with the event's goals. This involves participating in pre-event meetings, coordinating equipment setup with IT and lighting teams, and troubleshooting any technical issues during rehearsals and live events. Effective communication and flexibility are key, as last-minute changes often require quick decision-making and teamwork. Such collaboration ensures seamless integration of sound, video, and lighting components for a successful event experience.

Outside Sales Representative

Redmond, WA • On-site

Job description

Company Overview

We are partnering with a dynamic and fast-scaling residential systems integrator headquartered in Redmond, WA. Known for their software-forward approach to AV and home automation, this firm has built its reputation on deep technical expertise, hands-on leadership, and a relentless pursuit of operational excellence. With a second location in Texas now coming online and continued growth across Washington, they are investing in a team that's setting a new standard for quality in luxury residential integration.

This is a company that cares as much about how the work gets sold as it does about closing the deal. Ownership has personally driven the sales function to this point and is now building it out — which means the person in this seat is inheriting a real book of inbound demand and a leadership team that knows exactly what good looks like.

Why Join Us?

  • Uncapped Earning Potential — Commission is paid on gross profit and is genuinely uncapped. On-target earnings land at $130,000+, and top performance is rewarded, not throttled.
  • Real Inbound Volume, Not a Cold Start — Marketing investment is already generating qualified leads. You'll build your own pipeline and receive distributed leads from day one.
  • Engineering Support Behind Every Proposal — You won't be selling into a vacuum. A dedicated engineer partners with you to make sure what you sell is viable, buildable, and profitable.
  • Sell Genuinely High-End Work — Large-scale luxury residential projects with sophisticated clientele, not volume-driven commodity work.
  • A Company Actively Scaling — With a new Texas location opening and growth ahead, there's room to grow into a broader sales leadership role as the team expands.
  • Collaborative, No-Ego Culture — Leadership is hands-on and direct. This is a team where salespeople sit alongside operations, understand the schedule, and win together.

Position Overview

We're hiring a Sales Representative to take ownership of the residential sales cycle end to end, hunting new business, converting inbound leads, and building the relationships that fuel continued growth across the Washington market.

This is a hybrid inside/outside role. You'll be out in the field developing relationships with builders, architects, designers, and homeowners, and you'll also be running the full quoting and proposal process yourself with support from engineering. Software fluency matters here: you'll own the design-to-proposal workflow rather than handing it off.

The ideal candidate is a consultative hunter, someone who is comfortable in luxury environments, unintimidated by wealth or large project scopes, and disciplined enough to sell profitable, well-scoped work rather than chasing top-line revenue. Just as important, this person understands they're selling on behalf of a team: what gets sold has to be deliverable within the shop's real capacity and schedule.

While the primary market is Washington, this role may occasionally support events and initiatives at the company's Texas location.

Responsibilities

  • Own the full sales cycle from prospecting through close for residential AV, automation, lighting, and shading projects.
  • Actively hunt new business — developing relationships with luxury home builders, general contractors, architects, and interior designers in the region.
  • Convert and manage inbound leads generated through the company's marketing efforts.
  • Build your own quotes and proposals independently, collaborating with the in-house engineer to validate scope, feasibility, and profitability.
  • Conduct consultative discovery with high-net-worth homeowners and design professionals, translating their goals into well-designed system solutions.
  • Protect project margin by scoping thoroughly and avoiding costly change orders and gaps.
  • Partner with operations to ensure sold work aligns with team capacity, schedule, and utilization.
  • Represent the company at industry events, builder functions, and community networking opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline, forecast, and proposal records in company software systems.

Qualifications

Required

  • Demonstrated success in a consultative, quota-carrying sales role with a track record of hunting and closing new business.
  • Comfortable selling to affluent homeowners and high-end builder/designer clientele on large-scale projects.
  • Strong technical aptitude, able to build detailed quotes and proposals independently using design and estimating software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the professionalism to represent a premium brand.
  • Team-oriented mindset, willing to work on-site alongside operations and sell within the company's real delivery capacity.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

Preferred

  • Experience in custom integration, AV, or residential technology.
  • Working knowledge of Lutron lighting and shading specification.
  • Familiarity with D-Tools, JetBuild, or comparable estimating/proposal platforms.
  • Existing relationships with luxury home builders, architects, or designers in the Pacific Northwest.
  • Candidates from adjacent industries with strong luxury residential relationships are also encouraged to apply.

Schedule & Location: This is an on-site role based out of the Redmond, WA office. Occasional travel for client meetings, site visits, and company events.

Benefits

  • Health insurance
  • PTO
  • Company fleet vehicle available for business use
  • Client entertainment and business development budget, supported on a case-by-case basis
  • Engineering and design support on every project
  • Growth opportunity as the company expands into new markets

Compensation

$60,000–$90,000 base salary, depending on experience, plus uncapped commission paid on project gross profit. On-target earnings of $130,000+ in year one, with no ceiling on top performance.
