Job description

Job Summary:
Freeport-McMoRan is dedicated to fostering a collaborative environment with a strong emphasis on safety and excellence. The Autonomous Technology Support Technician I will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and supporting a variety of technologies used in Mine Operations, while ensuring compliance with safety protocols and delivering exceptional customer service.
Responsibilities:
• Install, maintain, and support a wide range of onboard and wireless technologies used in Mine Operations, including fleet management, safety, reliability, monitoring, and production systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues to minimize equipment downtime.
• Perform preventative maintenance and testing on low-voltage devices, wireless networks, and associated infrastructure.
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow Standard Operating Procedures.
• Support 2-way radios, GPS systems, and wireless clients for heavy and light vehicles.
• Participate in safety and environmental programs and ensure compliance with MIS policies.
• Deliver strong customer service while managing tasks efficiently.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Two (2) years of experience in computer/electronic systems hardware/software troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair
• Strong organizational and customer service skills
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, rotating shifts, and overtime as needed
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English
• Ability to work in a physically demanding and potentially stressful environment
• Willingness to work in extreme conditions including temperature, humidity, and exposure to chemicals or airborne particles
• Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
• Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
• Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
• Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment using mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going drug and alcohol testing, as allowed by applicable laws.
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree in MIS/IT related field preferred
• Associate’s degree in information technology or related field preferred
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• CompTIA Network+, A+, or equivalent certification preferred
• Rajant, Cisco, or similar network certification preferred
• Electrical/Electronic certification preferred
• Autonomous technology troubleshooting experience preferred
• Two (2) years of experience supporting wireless networks and onboard technologies in mining or industrial environments preferred
• Experience with low voltage electrical systems
• Experience working with autonomous mining technologies or similar
• Experience programming/configuring hardware
