Technical Writer Consultant

The client's hardware product development team is looking for a technical writer who is interested in a blended role as a documenter, business analyst, product and project manager, and the combined creativity and experience to match.

The group seeks to liberate access to digital media, by delighting consumers with beautifully crafted products and putting them in control of their media. We have succeeded blending powerful hardware platform housed in a user-centric industrial design with robust, flexible and intuitive software.

In this role, you will partner with cross functional teams of architects, engineering teams, manufacturing teams and internal product management to capture the essential ideas, intent, stated and unstated requirements to craft, create and maintain product requirement documentation, user guides, process documentation, compliance materials, design and product documentation. Your documentation experience in a consumer product development group and consumer product sector honed your skill and ability to take what is complex and present it a simple, clear, concise and tangible presentation.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or equivalent depth and breadth of work experience. You should have blended background and experience as a:

Technical Writer/project manager: 5 - 8 years of experience in creating, writing, editing and maintaining technical documents, including requirements documentation, user guides, manuals, process flows, white papers, steps/procedures, and presentations, tutorials, training materials, compliance/certification materials and Confluence content. Experience in document management of repositories, collaboration and writing to a variety of audiences is required.

Business analyst/product manager: work with senior product manager and engineering teams to create and develop product requirements documentation. Establish and document workflow, process systems and installation steps and requirements.

Skillset: leadership, technically savvy, organized, works independently, creative problem solver, quick learner, flexibility to Learn new products, comfortable in collaborating with highly technical people and working in fast paced environments.

Specific Requirements

Must be able to create graphics, layouts and designing documents for procedures and policies

MS Office, and Web based collaborative tools (e.g., strong Visio, MS Share Point, Atlassian Confluence ). Prior experience with Adobe Photoshop a plus

Planning and editing technical material/ overseeing the preparation of illustrations, photographs, diagrams, and charts

Areas of Expertise
