What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an automotive fixed operations consultant, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Automotive Fixed Operations Consultant, you need strong expertise in dealership service, parts, and collision operations, often supported by experience in automotive management or related certifications. Familiarity with dealership management systems (DMS), key performance indicator (KPI) tracking tools, and workflow optimization software is typically required. Exceptional communication, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities help consultants build rapport with clients and drive operational improvements. These skills ensure consultants can effectively analyze business processes, implement best practices, and deliver measurable results for automotive dealerships.

What is automotive fixed operations consulting?

Automotive Fixed Operations Consulting refers to professional advisory services that help dealerships and service centers improve the efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction of their fixed operations departments. Fixed operations include all the non-vehicle sales aspects of a dealership, such as parts, service, and collision repair. Consultants in this field analyze current processes, implement best practices, and provide training to enhance productivity and revenue. They may also help with technology adoption, workflow optimization, and customer experience improvements. The ultimate goal is to maximize the performance and profitability of the dealership’s after-sales operations.

What are some typical challenges faced by an automotive fixed operations consultant when working with dealerships, and how can these be effectively addressed?

Automotive Fixed Operations Consultants often encounter challenges such as resistance to process changes, varying levels of staff experience, and inconsistent performance metrics across departments. Successfully addressing these issues involves building trust with dealership teams, providing tailored training, and implementing clear, data-driven strategies for improvement. Consultants typically work closely with service managers, parts managers, and technicians to foster collaboration and ensure alignment with best practices, ultimately driving operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Regional Fixed Operations Performance Manager

Conant Automotive Resources LLC

Cerritos, CA

Job description

Location: Cerritos, CA | Type: Full-Time | Travel: 70-80% Field Travel

Norm Reeves Dealerships is one of the largest privately owned dealership groups in the country, with 17 dealerships across California, Texas, and Florida representing Honda, Toyota, Volkswagen, Ford, Lincoln, Genesis, Hyundai, and Subaru. We're looking for an experienced, hands-on Regional Fixed Ops Performance Manager leader who has moved the numbers at a high level and wants to do it across an entire platform.

For immediate consideration, please email brittany.chavez@normreeves.com and provide a copy of your updated resume.

About the Role

This is not a desk job. You'll spend 70-80% of your time in our stores working directly with Service, Parts, and Body Shop Managers — coaching, observing, and driving performance across service, parts, and collision operations. You are the connection between our enterprise Playbook and what actually happens on the drive.

Performance data decides where you go. You'll maintain a monthly rotation across all stores, support new fixed ops hires through structured Week 2 / 30 / 60 / 90-day milestone visits, and step in when a KPI is trending the wrong way to partner with store leadership on root cause — not just symptoms. Every visit ends with a documented action plan and clear accountability for what happens next.

You'll report directly to the Regional Vice President, and what you see in the field will directly shape how we operate across the enterprise.

What You'll Do

  • Coach Service, Parts, and Body Shop Managers on process execution, customer experience, and leadership — building teams that sustain excellence without you in the building
  • Monitor store-level KPIs to prioritize field activity and identify where intervention is needed
  • Lead structured root cause analysis when performance gaps emerge and build action plans tied to measurable outcomes
  • Support new fixed operations hires through their first 90 days, reducing time-to-productivity and early turnover
  • Drive adoption of new systems, tools, and technology across stores
  • Complete and distribute a store visit report after every visit — what you observed, what was done, and what's committed
  • Capture best practices from across the platform and share them enterprise-wide

What You Bring

  • 10+ years of progressive automotive fixed operations experience, ideally multi-store or enterprise
  • NADA Academy graduate
  • A proven, measurable track record — CSI, retention, and operational metrics you can point to and explain
  • Experience coaching leaders and fixed ops teams across diverse markets
  • Strong DMS and fixed operations technology proficiency
  • The ability to hold experienced managers accountable with candor and respect — you're comfortable with pushback and don't need positional authority to drive results
  • High mobility: 70-80% travel in and out of market, primarily regional with cross-region travel for special projects

Compensation & Perks

  • Up to $250,000k + Bonus Incentive DOE
  • $60 Monthly Phone Stipend
  • 401k Matching and FSA

  • Tuition Reimbursement

  • Paid Time Off (accrues)

  • Supplemental Insurance (Hospital, Accident, Critical Illness)

  • Discounts on Vehicles, Services, and Parts

Why Norm Reeves

We're a company built on The Norm Reeves Way — consistency, integrity, and pride in the work we do together. This role exists because we believe great operations come from great coaching, and we're investing in the people who make our stores better. If you've built high-performing fixed operations and want a bigger canvas, we want to talk.
