Job Type: Full-Time.
Position Overview:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Automobile Service Writer/Manager to oversee daily operations of our service department. This role combines strong customer service skills with technical understanding of automotive repair and maintenance. The Service Writer/Manager will act as the liaison between customers and technicians, ensuring a smooth workflow, accurate repair documentation, and a high level of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet customers, listen to their concerns, and accurately document vehicle issues.
  • Create, explain, and manage repair orders with clarity and professionalism.
  • Provide cost estimates, timelines, and obtain customer approval for services.
  • Assign and schedule work to technicians based on skill, availability, and priority.
  • Monitor repair progress and communicate updates to customers.
  • Ensure all services are completed accurately, on time, and within budget.
  • Handle warranty claims, insurance paperwork, and parts ordering as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized service area.
  • Train, supervise, and support service staff to meet performance goals.
  • Promote additional services, preventive maintenance, and dealership/ shop specials.
  • Resolve customer complaints with professionalism and efficiency.
  • Track department performance metrics, including sales, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree a plus).
  • 3+ years of experience as a Service Writer, Advisor, or Automotive Service Manager.
  • Strong understanding of automotive systems, diagnostics, and repair processes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage staff and delegate effectively.
  • Proficiency with automotive software (e.g., Reynolds & Reynolds, CDK, Mitchell, etc.) and MS Office.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Preferred Skills:
