Maintenance Helper
Position Summary
Bayou Processing & Storage is seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Maintenance Helper to support the maintenance team in keeping our production equipment and facility operating safely and efficiently. This position assists with preventive maintenance, repairs, equipment inspections, parts organization, and general facility upkeep in a fast-paced industrial manufacturing environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with mechanical aptitude who is looking to build a career in industrial maintenance.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist maintenance technicians with equipment repairs and troubleshooting.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks on production equipment and facility systems.
  • Help inspect equipment and identify maintenance needs.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.
  • Assist with maintaining maintenance inventories, replacement parts, and supplies.
  • Record completed maintenance activities and update maintenance logs.
  • Support installation, adjustment, and replacement of mechanical components as directed.
  • Report equipment concerns, safety hazards, or process improvement opportunities to supervision.
  • Follow all company safety policies and wear required PPE at all times.
  • Perform other maintenance and facility support duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Previous industrial, mechanical, maintenance, or manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude with the ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Willingness to learn hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical maintenance principles.
  • Ability to read and follow work instructions and preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail.
  • Able to troubleshoot and recommend solutions for issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs independently on a routine basis and handle materials safely as part of daily job duties.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and maintain safe body positioning while performing tasks and moving through the work area, including walking on concrete floors and uneven surfaces.
  • Frequent squatting, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and lifting, requiring full-body mobility, balance, and upper- and lower-body strength to perform work safely.
  • Manual agility to operate tools safely and effectively, with regular use of arms, shoulders, and back for lifting, reaching, and positioning tasks.
  • Ability to work safely in a warehouse environment with exposure to noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures.
  • Maintain adequate visual and auditory acuity to safely perform assigned tasks, including but not limited to: identifying potential hazards, reading and/or recording measurements, inspecting materials, and responding promptly to verbal instructions, alarms or hand signals in the work environment

  • Criminal background check: reviewed in accordance with job duties, the nature and gravity of any convictions, and the time elapsed since the offense or sentence completion.
  • Pre-hire drug screening: candidates must pass a drug screen to be eligible for hire.
  • Physical assessment: required for all Production and Distribution positions, conducted by a company-designated physician at no cost to the candidate.

Participation in each step of the pre-employment process is required. Candidates who choose not to participate or who do not meet the screening criteria will not be eligible for employment.
