Job Description:
The Marketing Automation Manager is responsible for the UPS Supply Chain Solutions' (SCS) email marketing program, advancing global marketing automation and email strategies and programs; owning and administering the Marketo Engage platform; configuring and managing the marketing automation tool; creating and maintaining creative and program templates; managing the health, cleanliness, and integrity of data used in marketing automation/email programs; ensuring adherence to all compliance standards; and managing employee(s) and vendor(s).
These efforts are designed to engage customers at specific stages of their lifecycle journey, improve UPS's brand relevance position, and contribute to engagement KPIs and/or marketing automation revenue goals for which the Marketing Automation Manager is held responsible.
This is a high-impact, high-visibility role requiring deep, hands-on expertise to independently manage and optimize a complex, enterprise-scale marketing automation environment.
This role works closely within the SCS Digital Marketing team to advance business initiatives and partners with other email groups for enterprise-wide initiatives, database management, and compliance.
Responsibilities
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for marketing automation; provides training, guidance and oversight to users of the marketing automation tool; and provides best practice and compliance guidance to campaign teams and stakeholders globally.
  • Develops, executes, oversees, and measures moderate complexity marketing automation and email campaigns through UPS's marketing automation system and/or third-party email service providers, globally.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams on campaign strategy, requirements, target audience section criteria, campaign design, schedules, budgets, and measurement.
  • Manages all aspects of program creation and execution within the marketing automation tool and/or with email service providers inclusive of target selection, list creation and segmentation, email creation, landing page and form creation, workflow development, scoring model refinement, email compliance, campaign approval and launch, reporting, and performance optimization.
  • Measures, analyzes, reports on, and makes optimization recommendations to evaluate overall channel and campaign effectiveness.
  • Configures, manages, and troubleshoots technical issues with the marketing automation tool.
  • Creates and maintains creative templates, program templates, and segmentations for use in campaigns.
  • Contributes to the health, cleanliness, and integrity of data used by the tool and email service providers.
  • Possesses acumen required to navigate and leverage customer data, digital marketing and analytical platforms, recommend tagging implementation strategies, and digital marketing processes to achieve marketing automation objectives.
  • Monitors email, marketing automation, and nurture best practices through external benchmarking, conferences/webinars, and periodicals to influence internal policy development, strategy development, and implementation.
  • Interacts with key stakeholders of the marketing automation system and email service provider to ensure the system, email service provider, and supporting processes meet stakeholders' needs and marketing automation/email channel best practices.
  • Manages the Marketing Automation Senior Analyst and/or Marketing Automation Analyst and/or and/or Relationship Marketing Specialist and corresponding people processes to ensure the day-to-day administration of processes and formal procedures.
  • Directs vendors and agencies.
  • Provides necessary reporting on budget (if applicable) to senior management to facilitate budget planning, reporting, and tracking and to ensure overall fiscal management.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Marketo Engage (required), including building, optimizing, and troubleshooting programs and workflows
  • Proven experience owning and administering a marketing automation platform (Marketo preferred)
  • Experience managing enterprise-scale marketing databases (1M+ records)
  • Strong working knowledge of marketing automation strategies, technology platforms, and compliance requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree (or internationally comparable degree)

Preferences:
  • Experience with APIs and testing tools
  • Experience creating target lists for marketing campaigns and proficiency with relational databases and analytics tools: Microsoft Access, Oracle Data Warehouse, Microsoft Power BI, and Microsoft SQL Server
  • Ability to analyze large data sets from multiple data sources, derive insights, and make recommendations for future strategies
  • Expertise in SQL, Python, Databricks

The position is based in Alpharetta, Georgia and requires commuting to the office on a hybrid schedule (4 days in office, 1 day remote). Employer will not sponsor a visa for this position. Candidates must be currently in the same geographic location or willing to relocate independently.
