Job Summary
The Controls Engineer IIIย designs control systems for industrial material handling solutions.ย Includes development of specifications, device layout drawings, control schematics, PLC logic, and solutions that deliver exceptional customer value. Works closely with the overall project team to design systemsย meetingย the project requirements. Uses creativity and innovation to tailor the standard product offering to meet customer needs.ย Leads large projects and directs the work of assigned team members. Performs duties with minimal direction.
Responsibilities
- Lead in the concepting and design of products that add value and are a solution to customers and market needsย
- Lead and collaborate with others on the development team to develop productsย
- Ensure products developed fit with current and future manufacturing operationsย
- Ensure products developed meet competitive and market demands for performance and costย
- Specify and develop a sequence of operations of automated equipmentย
- Prepares schematics and specifications for control panel fabricationย
- Develop Programmable Logical Control (PLC) programsย
- Maintain product develop schedules and cost estimatesย
- Follow established engineering standards and best practices including software revision controlย
- Perform prototype development and testingย
- Perform on site beta testing to ensure safety, reliability, and other performance metrics are metย
- Investigate product issues in the field and determine root causeย
- Domestic travel up to 40% in North America, mostly within the Continental United States
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 6 years of related experience
- Experience with industrial HMI and SCADA systems, Allen-Bradley controls/controllers and Schneider PLCs
- In-depth knowledge of industrial automation systems, including HMI and SCADA systems, Allen-Bradley controls/controllers, and Schneider PLCs
- Proficient with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical or other related electrical CAD systems such as E-Plan
- Ability to lead a team and accomplish project goals effectively
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Team-oriented and collaborative
- Creative-thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to learn new technologies
- Self-motivated
- Ability to work non-traditional hours
- Must be able to read, speak, and understand the English language
