Job Description

Keystone Ford in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania is looking for a service technician that can specialize in both automatic and manual transmissions. We are looking for a professional that has the abilities to:

  • Diagnose and test transmissions to include torque converters, clutch packs, gear sets and verify reported issues.
  • Disassemble, inspect, repair and rebuild transmissions while complying with manufacturing specifications.
  • Capable of performing routine maintenance of transmissions including, but not limited to flushing, filter changes and linkage/band adjustments
  • Must have competence to complete all records of repairs and findings for warranty purposes
  • Posses the willingness to perform other automotive technician responsibilities in our busy shop

The Automotive Service Technician services and repairs vehicles as assigned by management following all established standards and procedures. We deliver the highest quality service while maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction. We service all makes and models and are seeking talent to join our team.
The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or GED, some post-secondary automotive training, at least one year of dealer-level or large facility experience, and certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE not required). An unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record, a strong technical performance record, and strong physical dexterity and stamina to get the job done are required. He or she must be able to work productively in a fast-paced team environment and must have a positive attitude, professional appearance, great communication skills, and the ability to deliver world-class customer service.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Diagnoses issues based on experience, analysis, and testing
  • Performs routine service inspections or tests and completes standard maintenance jobs
  • Repairs automobiles and light trucks as assigned
  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicles while performing service or repairs
  • Ensures that required documentation is complete and is in compliance with regulations and standards
  • Helps maintain shop appearance and safety standards and ensures the shop runs in an efficient manner by performing duties such as inventory stocking and other general functions.
  • Follows all shop policy, procedure, safety, and environmental rules
  • Attends all staff meetings, training, and educational classes as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Post-secondary automotive training or equivalent work experience
  • One year of dealer-level or large facility experience preferred
  • ASE certification (or is willing to obtain certification)
  • Broad scope of automotive mechanical/electrical knowledge
  • Unrestricted driver's license and clean driving record
  • Able to drive both automatic and standard-transmission vehicles
  • Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to maintain composure under stress
  • Highly professional and dependable
  • Safety and customer service oriented
  • Basic computer and internet skills
  • Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
