M&J Engineering is a leader in construction management and inspection, ITS, mechanical, electrical, wastewater, water supply, tunnel airport, port, marine/coastal, environmental engineering, and design-build services for both new infrastructure projects and renovations.

The Scheduler – Traction Power & Scheduler – Automatic Train Control (ATC) - WMATA (2 positions), powers the pulse of WMATA’s rail system by leading the planning and monitoring of vital traction power and automatic train control maintenance programs. From Cable Meggering and corrosion testing to ATC inspections and State of Good Repair initiatives, you’ll coordinate across engineering, construction, and maintenance teams to ensure work is prioritized, scheduled, and executed efficiently. With a strong focus on progress tracking and RSA coordination, this position is perfect for a proactive, systems-savvy planner ready to keep transit infrastructure running strong.


• Develop and monitor traction power maintenance work, primarily the Cable Meggering, Stray Current and Corrosion Testing, Thermal Imagery Programs and support Traction Power State of Good Repair;
• Work with the Office of Project Implementation and Construction (PICO)/Rail & Bus Infrastructure Rehabilitation (RBIR), Traction Power Operations Engineering (TPOE) and Traction Power Maintenance (TRPM) to understand work needs to develop prioritized schedules to ensure WMATA completes work planned;
• Develop and monitor Automatic Train Control Maintenance (ATCM) work, primarily the Capital Improvement Program - Automatic Train Control (ATC) State of Good Repair and key preventive maintenance and inspection programs;
• Work with Office of Signal Systems Renewal Programs (SSRP), Automatic Train Control Engineering (ATCE) and ATCM to understand work needs to develop prioritized schedules to ensure WMATA completes work planned;
• Report on progress against plan on weekly, monthly and quarterly basis;
• Retain all reports, correspondence, etc. in accordance with WMATA document retention standards; and
• Support RSA Scheduler to coordinate related RSA work.


  • Experience with rail, track and structures.
  • Experience with rail and signaling systems; and
  • Computer Based Train Control (CBTC) experience.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of construction, engineering related, or rail maintenance experience;
  • Ability to work periodically in the field around operating equipment and field / construction experience, or within a Control Room Environment;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality;
  • Ability to work across multiple departments and manage conflict;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong organization and proactive communication skills;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365® full suite of applications and Primavera 6® (P6);
  • Ability to evaluate and develop complex schedules;
  • Ability to read and understand WMATA rail service maps, power diagrams and train operations, power switching orders, and power outage tags;
  • Must be highly proficient with Adobe Acrobat® and Visio® to create drawings and maps;
  • Experience with rail construction or maintenance;
  • Familiarity with WMATA standard processes and procedures; and
  • Familiarity with WMATA operations and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate degree or above in construction, construction management or a related engineering field; and
  • Experience with TILOS® scheduling software and Procore®.
Salary Range

$95,000 - $115,000 annually, depending on experience
