Job description

Function and Scope:
Under the direction of the Shift Production Supervisor, the Automation Packaging Technician(s) on shift will be responsible for the following items:
Job Responsibilities:
  1. Lead by example supporting company values and OPEX principles.
  2. Have a high level of safety standards for self and others.
  3. Maintain and drive good 5S practices.
  4. Consult the Help Chain with issues.
  5. Perform daily housekeeping duties.
  6. Maintain materials and supplies for work area.
  7. Communicate with APT in your area at shift change.
  8. Be able to perform all other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  9. Follow all procedures and SOPs concerning the loading and unloading of product from Production.
  10. Be aware of hazardous materials in your area. Awareness will be achieved through training, SDS review, safety meetings, and toolbox meetings.
  11. Be aware and understand emergency procedures.
  12. Report all spills or other environmental incidents.
  13. Work in such a manner as to prevent safety incidents and if asked, to participate in investigations of safety incidents.
  14. Responsible for minimizing waste and preventing product mix ups.
  15. Follow all procedures concerning the tagging and placement of product.
  16. Stack all products in the correct manner and without damage.
  17. Perform duties in an efficient manner without damage to company equipment and furnishings.
  18. Follow instructions and receive constructive feedback.
  19. Communicate with supervisor and co-workers.
  20. Stay in assigned area.
  21. Return from breaks on time.
  22. Promote teamwork.

Educational and Other Skill Requirements:
  • Basic reading and writing skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience with prior automated packaging systems is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to work independently and in a fast paced environment
  • Successful completion of all pre-employment requirements (i.e. drug screen, background check
  • This position requires reading and writing skills normally acquired through a high school education.
  • Understand the principle of teamwork, and the capability of meeting those needs.
  • Attention to detail is a critical factor in successful performance of this job.
  • Understanding and general knowledge of the production process.
  • Position requires the certification to operate mobile equipment. The certification process requires passing a physical, drug screen, and forklift training class.
  • The position requires the employee to be trained in the use of walk behind type lifts. The employee must pass both a written and driving test.
  • The candidate helps provide a safe work place by assisting in developing, promoting and following practices which prevent injury and meet legal safety requirements.
  • Follow all food safety guidelines while on the manufacturing floor.
  • Report any deviation from food safety protocol to the functional responsible personnel.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must lead by example in all areas: procedures, policies, motivation, and attitude in our ever-changing environment
  • Must have good hand/eye coordination
  • Must be able to transfer that knowledge to others.
  • Must be aware of and address issues regarding safety and housekeeping.
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
