Job description

An opening currently exists for the position AutoCAD Drafter located at our Corporate Office in Bossier City, Louisiana. This position uses the latest AutoCAD software to draft and detail project drawings for metal roof, metal wall systems, and sub-structural systems. The position reports to the Drafting amp; Estimating Manager.

Some of the responsibilities of the AutoCAD Drafter position are:

  • Develops working drawings for architectural and commercial buildings that are sent to customers for approval.
  • Develops a list of components required to construct a metal roof or wall system when the approval drawings are returned.
  • Answers technical questions regarding McElroy Metal products.
  • Contact sales or customer with questions or issues.


Some of the requirements of the AutoCAD Drafter position are:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree in design technology a plus.
  • Two year’s drafting experience with detailing architectural drawings, metal buildings, metal roof systems and/or structural steel is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Ability to read Architectural drawings and specs.
  • Experience in AutoCAD 2007 or newer is required.
  • Strong math background.
  • Estimating skills a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel a plus.
