Job description

CAD Designer – Electrical (Low Voltage / BMS / EPMS)

(AutoCAD | Data Centers)

Location: On-site | Columbus, OH
Employment Type: Full-time
Compensation: Based on Experience

About JSET

JSET Automated Technologies is an innovative, fast-paced company specializing in Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) for mission-critical data centers throughout the Columbus area. We hire great people and foster a problem-solving culture grounded in teamwork, quality, and results.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced CAD Designer – Electrical to support the design, coordination, and documentation of low-voltage electrical and controls systems for data center projects.

This role goes beyond basic drafting. You'll be responsible for turning engineering intent, field input, and coordination requirements into clear, constructible AutoCAD drawing sets and wiring documentation, working closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field leadership from pre-construction through as-builts.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and maintain AutoCAD-based electrical and low-voltage controls drawings, including:
    • Plans, sections, and details
    • Conduit and raceway layouts
    • Panel layouts
    • Cable and device schedules
    • Final as-built documentation
  • Create and update wiring diagrams, schematics, loop diagrams, and I/O lists for BMS, EPMS, and other low-voltage control systems.
  • Translate field measurements, redlines, and site conditions into accurate, well-organized drawing sets.
  • Perform drawing quality control to ensure clarity, completeness, and constructability.
  • Support document control standards, including file naming, versioning, plotting, and drawing registers.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and field teams to:
    • Resolve drawing-related questions
    • Incorporate RFIs and submittal comments
    • Close punch-list and as-built documentation
  • Assist with pre-construction layouts, takeoffs, and coordination documentation, including clash awareness and coordination support with VDC teams where applicable.
What You'll Bring
  • Proven experience producing electrical or low-voltage CAD drawings for commercial or industrial projects (controls, BMS, EPMS, or similar systems).
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD; comfort producing clean, organized drawing sets independently.
  • Working knowledge of low-voltage wiring, panel layouts, and control systems documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for cable schedules, panel schedules, material lists, or BOMs.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, wiring diagrams, and field markups.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills in a multi-project environment.
  • Clear, professional communication and dependable follow-through.
Nice to Have (Not Required)
  • Associate degree or technical training (Electrical Engineering Technology or similar).
  • Experience with BMS, EPMS, or data center controls environments.
  • Familiarity with Revit, Navisworks, or BIM coordination workflows.
  • Understanding of conduit/raceway routing best practices and field installation realities.
Why JSET
  • High-impact work on mission-critical data center projects.
  • Collaborative culture that values ownership, initiative, and continuous improvement.
  • Competitive weekly pay and comprehensive benefits.
  • Stability, growth opportunities, and long-term project pipelines in the Columbus market.
Work Conditions
  • In-office role based in Columbus, OH.
  • Regular local travel to job sites for field measurements and coordination.
