We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Auto Detail Technician Team Lead to join our team and help us maintain our high standards
The Team Leader plays a pivotal role in ensuring optimal employee productivity while adhering to high-quality standards. This role is crucial for maintaining positive relationships with both employees and customers, as well as for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of departmental records.
The Auto Detail Technician Team Lead is a role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of auto detailing teams, ensuring high-quality service, and managing the detail location within the designated area. This position combines hands-on detailing expertise with leadership and management skills to drive operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
Performance/Customer Satisfaction: The Team Leader is responsible to:
  • Lead a team in providing high-quality services to clients
  • Ensure that all work is completed on time to the highest standard.
  • Assist employees in all phases of their job descriptions when overburdened or absent.
  • Train and develop team members to improve their skills and performance
  • Monitor team performance and provide feedback to team members.
  • Manage team schedules and ensure that all work is assigned and completed efficiently.
  • Perform a Quality inspection on every service.
  • Measure and monitor shop productivity, turn times, efficiency, and proficiency through visual and written inspections.
  • Ensure that common customer inconveniences, complaints, and misunderstandings are dealt with fairly and quickly.
  • Communicate with clients to ensure that their needs are being met and that they are satisfied with the services provided.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy working relationship with the customerโ€™s
  • Train staff to tactfully handle customer complaints.
  • Prepare and review invoices daily and check for accuracy prior to submission.
  • Photographing new and pre owned vehicles after proper training.
  • Counsel and discipline employees, as necessary, to assure that all employees arrive and depart work at established times and follow company policies.
  • Report discipline issues to the area manager.
  • Train, motivate, counsel, and monitor the performance of all Detail department staff on both an individual and group basis.
  • Attend sales meetings weekly.
  • Perform other tasks as directed.

Safety/Compliance: The Detail Manager is responsible to:
  • Read, understand, and ensure consistent adherence to Company Policy contained in the employee handbook โ€“ including but not limited to attendance, personal appearance, grooming, dress, and company name tag and other equipment.
  • Report to upper management any situation or condition that jeopardizes the safety, welfare, security, financial integrity or reputation of the company, its employees, or customers, including but not limited to environmental issues or concerns. (i.e. chemical, gas or oil spills, improper waste disposal, etc.)
  • Maintain shop cleanliness, equipment repairs, key management, asset control, and general shop appearance.
  • Perform monthly safety inspections on shop equipment, assuring it is in safe working condition. Ensure that all equipment and supplies are maintained and in good working order.
  • Represent the company in cases of emergency or as directed by company management.
  • Understand, keep abreast of, and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect service operation, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA right-to-know, state inspection and licenses, etc. Immediately investigate and report all accidents or incidents involving damage or injury that occur on dealership property or while conducting dealership business.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies that pertain to accidents including drug testing, workers compensation claims, etc.
  • Know and understand employment policies and procedures pertaining to employment matters including FMLA, workers compensation issues and other absences. Communicate all such absences to the HR Manager or direct supervisor.
  • Know, understand and actively enforce the company "No Harassment Policy". Report immediately to the Operations Manager or HR Manager any situation you observe that you believe may be a violation of that policy.
This position requires regular physical activity, including standing, walking, using hands, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, balancing, and working in loud environments. It also involves exposure to strong chemical smells, occasional sitting, lifting or moving up to 75 pounds, and the need for specific vision abilities like close and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
