Job description

The Opportunity
Eligibility: Applicants must be Australian citizens and be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Australian Government Defence security clearance at the level required for the position.
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Field Technician - Simulation to join our team supporting advanced Pilot and Maintainer Training Devices.
In this role, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, troubleshooting and technical support of complex electro-mechanical and information technology systems. You will play an important role in ensuring training devices remain available, reliable and mission-ready to support daily training requirements.
Working collaboratively with training operations, maintenance instructors, aircrew, contractor instructor pilots, engineering and customer representatives, you will contribute to the ongoing performance, security and capability of the training environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure training devices are mission-ready and available in accordance with daily training schedules.
  • Perform scheduled and preventative maintenance in accordance with manufacturer specifications and approved procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electro-mechanical, IT network and training device faults, implementing appropriate solutions.
  • Perform systems administration, including user account management and Information Assurance activities.
  • Install, test and verify system modifications and security updates in coordination with relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance instructors, aircrew and contractor instructor pilots.
  • Maintain awareness of current issues affecting F-35 pilot and maintenance training devices and provide technical advice as required.
  • Develop and maintain plans, procedures and work instructions, and ensure all maintenance activities comply with the TSS Maintenance Management Plan and assigned authorisations.

What you will bring
  • Experience in simulator, aviation, defence, IT or a related technical environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting, fault-finding and problem-solving skills across electro-mechanical and IT systems.
  • Experience with systems administration, networks, user accounts and/or Information Assurance.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to provide effective technical support to a range of users and stakeholders.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality, security, attention to detail and working within approved procedures and authorisations.
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice.
