Position Summary
The Underwriting Specialist plays a critical role in evaluating new referrals and securing funding approvals in a timely and efficient manner. This position serves as the primary liaison between attorneys, case managers, providers, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate case review, timely follow-up, and seamless progression through the underwriting process.
This is an on-site position based out of our Las Vegas office.
Responsibilities:
  • Review and process new referrals promptly, ensuring all cases are contacted within 24 hours of assignment.
  • Obtain attorney approval for funding requests in accordance with established underwriting guidelines and timelines.
  • Manage cases through the approval process with a goal of securing funding authorization within 3-5 business days.
  • Proactively follow up with attorneys and case managers every other day to obtain status updates and drive timely resolutions.
  • Utilize phone, email, and other communication channels to maintain consistent engagement with attorney offices and key points of contact.
  • Apply the Underwriting Matrix and existing case information within CIMI to evaluate funding requests and determine appropriate approval levels.
  • Escalate non-responsive or delayed cases to management for additional support and intervention.
  • Submit cases requiring higher-level review to management when funding requests exceed established approval thresholds.
  • Prepare and review approval-to-fund packets, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant, including demographics, medical orders, liens, and supporting records.
  • Coordinate with providers, Global Lien, and other stakeholders to ensure documentation is delivered to the appropriate contacts.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case information within CIMI, including attorney details, case manager information, dates of loss, and other critical data points.
  • Initiate and manage Policy Limit Searches when applicable to support underwriting decisions.
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, underwriting procedures, and service-level expectations.

Requirements
  • High School or GED required
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with attorneys, case managers, and medical providers.
  • Proficiency in CRM and case management systems; experience with CIMI is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in underwriting, legal services, medical funding, healthcare administration, insurance, or a related field preferred.
  • Must live in the Las Vegas area and can reliably commute to the office Mon - Fri
