Job Title: Auditorium and Stage Manager
Purpose:
To ensure that the auditorium and all associated equipment are well maintained, fully functional, and ready for use at all scheduled events within Cooperstown Central School.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain all lighting instruments, including repositioning, refocusing, repairing, and replacing gels.
  • Patch, re-patch, and manage the lighting board and patch panel to safely assign lighting instruments to circuits without electrical overload, adapting setups for various events such as concerts, plays, musicals, assemblies, and visiting artist performances.
  • Coordinate with the Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds and maintenance personnel to address repairs and replacements beyond scope, including house lamps and other facility issues.
  • Maintain and operate all sound equipment, including setting up microphones, stands, cables, adapters, cleaning contacts, adjusting audio board controls, and repairing cables and connectors.
  • Maintain stage drapes, masking positions, and counterweight systems, utilizing proper hanging techniques and safety protocols.
  • Monitor and enforce all safety measures in and around the stage area.
  • Order and manage all equipment necessary to uphold performance quality and safety standards.
  • Serve as auditorium supervisor during all day, evening, and weekend activities.
  • Train and supervise running crews for school productions, including lighting operation, rigging, and safety procedures.

Qualifications:
  • Strong working knowledge of lighting instrumentation, wiring, and electronics.
  • Proficiency in sound equipment operation, microphone usage, wiring, amplification, and commercial audio installations.
  • Familiarity with stage drapery positioning, hanging techniques, draw ropes, pulleys, and theater terminology.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical patching to avoid circuit overloads.
  • Experience in maintaining and repairing theater lighting and sound equipment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment for cast, crew, and audience.
  • Ability to supervise and train students or volunteers in technical theater operations.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required by event schedules.
  • Prior experience in auditorium or stage management preferred.
