Job description

MPS Group Inc. is seeking a Lead Project Manager to join our team at the GM Fort Wayne Plant located in Fort Wayne, IN. This individual leads all onsite activities at client location in relation to the storage, transportation and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous wastes and other related services following Federal, state, and local regulations.

Responsibilities and Job Duties:

  • Comply with MPS Group’s management system policies and procedures.
  • Manage client and vendor financial obligations including invoicing, reporting, record keeping and contract management.
  • Coordinate logistics for transportation of hazardous waste, universal waste and non-hazardous waste from client site including characterizing, profiling, scheduling, manifesting and physically loading waste (bulk and drummed).
  • Promote culture of safety by ensuring site personnel are properly trained to perform assigned duties and comply with safety, environmental, Federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Proactively work with client to establish reuse, reduction, and recycling options that aid in achieving waste targets.
  • Track production, waste and budget variances and routinely communicate status with client and Regional Manager.
  • Read and interpret analytical data used to characterize waste streams.
  • Identify out of scope and episodic projects, work with your Regional Manager and client to quote project and profile material prior to providing service.
  • Maintain environmental compliance by conducting regulatory and client specific inspections and audits applicable to the facility.
  • Manage the contract per current budget and seek internal/external cost savings.
  • Supervise personnel necessary to fulfill requirements of contract.
  • Complete all other assignments made by MPS management and client.
  • Supervises and plans activities of onsite personnel.
  • Serves as liaison between client and vendors in relation to service issues.
  • Maintains pre-established standards for safety and environmental compliance.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or a related field required; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered. Candidates with a minimum of five years of relevant experience may also be considered.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Ability to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in the hazardous waste and/or solid waste industry.
  • Current 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) with Annual Refresher (desired); will provide upon hire.
  • Current Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA, desired); will provide upon hire.
  • Current Department of Transportation (DOT, desired); will provide upon hire.
