Audio/Video Programming Specialist

In this role, you'll serve as the technical expert for system programming and commissioning while collaborating with project managers, team members, and customers to deliver high-quality technology solutions. This position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge AV technologies, support complex integration projects, and provide exceptional customer experiences through innovative system design and programming.

Overview:

 

The Audio/Video Programming Specialist is responsible for programming, configuring, commissioning, installing, and supporting advanced audio/video and automation systems. This role serves as the primary technical resource for system programming, integration, troubleshooting, and optimization while ensuring projects are delivered according to customer requirements and company standards. The position partners closely with Project Managers, installation teams, and customers to ensure systems are properly programmed, tested, documented, and supported throughout the project lifecycle. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service.

A Day in the Life:

  • Program, configure, test, troubleshoot, and optimize audio/video, automation, and control systems
  • Configure and commission integrated AV systems to ensure all components operate as designed
  • Install and configure network, Wi-Fi, surveillance, and remote access solutions supporting AV technologies
  • Calibrate televisions, projectors, audio systems, and related equipment for optimal performance
  • Maintain programming documentation and system configuration records
  • Install, integrate, terminate, and commission audio/video, automation, surveillance, and control systems
  • Install conference room technology, digital signage, distributed audio/video systems, and Direct View LED displays
  • Perform structured cabling installation, termination, testing, and certification
  • Build, organize, and maintain equipment racks while ensuring system reliability and effective cable management
  • Provide customer training and education on installed systems and technologies
  • Troubleshoot technical issues involving AV, networking, automation, access control, and surveillance systems
  • Collaborate with Project Managers on system design, implementation, programming requirements, and project execution
  • Complete commissioning reports, installation documentation, programming records, and service notes
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting customer expectations and project deadlines
  • Support continuous improvement efforts that enhance programming efficiency, installation quality, and customer satisfaction
  • Maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned

    Qualifications & Skills:

     

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in audio/video installation, integration, programming, or a related field
  • Strong experience programming and configuring audio/video and automation systems
  • General knowledge of AV industry technologies, installation standards, and best practices
  • Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and quality workmanship
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Valid Driver's License in good standing
  • Ability to lift and move 50 pounds individually and team lift up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening
  • Industry certifications such as Control4, Q-Sys, Atlona, Crestron, Extron, Shure, Dante, CTS, or similar credentials preferred
  • Experience with commercial AV integration projects preferred
  • Experience programming advanced automation and control systems preferred
  • Experience configuring network and Wi-Fi systems for AV environments preferred
  • Experience with surveillance, access control, and digital signage technologies preferred
  • Knowledge of conference room collaboration solutions and integrated communication platforms preferred
