Job description

JOB SUMMARY:
The Audio Visual Specialist supports the successful execution of institutional events by providing professional audio/visual production services, technical expertise, and operational support for campus event spaces.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
The employee in this position will have the following essential job functions:
  • Provides professional front-of-house audio mixing and live sound support for major institutional events both on and off campus.
  • Maintains high-quality, industry-standard audio capabilities across campus event venues and presentation spaces.
  • Collaborates closely with the Event Planning Team to coordinate and fulfill event audio and technical production needs.
  • Assists the Manager of Event Technology with processing event work orders, assessing technical requirements, and providing recommendations related to sound, instruments, and audio/visual support.
  • Works alongside the Manager of Event Technology to participate in and implement ongoing training of part-time Event Technology staff.
  • Manages audio/visual equipment inventory and performs routine maintenance to ensure operational readiness and reliability.
  • Assists with scheduling part-time employees and processing personnel action forms (PAFs) as needed.

Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
EDUCATION:
The person in this position should have an associate's degree or certificate in audio engineering or equivalent experience.
EXPERIENCE:
The person in this position should have at least one year of experience in professional sound design and engineering, specifically front-of-house mixing.
SUPERVISION:
The person in this position will supervise part-time Audio/Visual Technicians and part-time Audio Engineers.
The person in this position will report to the Manager of Event Technology.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The person in this position will work in all event spaces and auditoriums on campus as well as off-campus event venues as needed.
EQUIPMENT:
The person in this position will use the following equipment: professional audio/visual equipment standard to event spaces on campus (Logic Pro X, ProPresenter, Hog 4 lighting console, Allen & Heath DLive series mixers).
