Position Summary

Quest International is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair professional A/V and electro-mechanical equipment at hospitals, medical facilities, and other customer locations.

This is a hands-on, travel-intensive field position—not remote IT support or a help-desk role. Candidates may live anywhere in California but must have dependable access to a major commercial airport for early departures, late returns, and short-notice assignments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, inspect, maintain, and repair professional A/V and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance using approved procedures and diagnostic tools.
  • Diagnose failures involving FRUs, modules, boards, power supplies, sensors, motors, wiring, cables, connectors, and assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot HDMI, Coax, USB, Cat5/Cat6, network communication, power, and signal-flow issues.
  • Support equipment such as monitors, displays, speakers, amplifiers, DSPs, control systems, video switchers, CCTV systems, and PC-connected devices.
  • Complete accurate service reports, work orders, photographs, parts records, test results, and customer updates.
  • Independently manage flights, hotels, rental vehicles, expenses, changing schedules, and customer-site requirements.
  • Follow hospital and customer safety, privacy, access, and documentation standards.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current California residence near a major commercial airport.
  • At least three years of professional hands-on experience in A/V field service, electro-mechanical repair, medical or industrial equipment service, BMET, avionics, robotics, mechatronics, military electronics, or a closely related field.
  • Experience performing equipment installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective repair.
  • Professional digital multimeter experience.
  • Experience using additional diagnostic equipment such as an oscilloscope, cable tester, bench power supply, signal tester, pressure meter, vacuum meter, or frequency counter.
  • Strong understanding of wiring, connectors, Coax, HDMI, USB, Cat5/Cat6, and signal flow.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and eligibility to rent and operate vehicles.
  • Ability to travel more than 80%, including overnight and airline travel.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform field work involving standing, bending, crawling, climbing, and tool use, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Compensation expectations within the approved $24.00–$35.00 hourly range.
  • Acceptance of full-time, temp-to-hire employment and the required Human Performance Test.
Required Windows and Networking Skills

Candidates must be comfortable with:

  • Windows 10 and Windows 11
  • File and folder management
  • Task Manager and Event Viewer
  • Command Prompt or PowerShell
  • ping, ipconfig, and tracert
  • Static IP and DHCP configuration
  • IP address, subnet, gateway, DNS, and network-adapter settings
  • Public, Private, and Domain network profiles
  • Remote Desktop or approved remote-support tools
  • Electronic service reports, photographs, manuals, and diagnostic files
Preferred Experience

Professional A/V systems, medical devices, BMET, CCTV, structured cabling, control systems, industrial equipment, robotics, avionics, military electronics, Microsoft Word and Excel, and field-service work-order systems.

Benefits

Benefit programs may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), life insurance, and supplemental insurance options. Eligibility and effective dates depend on employment status and applicable plan terms.

Equal Employment Opportunity

Quest International is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment decisions are based on job-related qualifications, experience, demonstrated ability, business requirements, and the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Qualified applicants with criminal histories will be considered in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Reasonable accommodations are available for qualified applicants and employees with disabilities.
