Position Summary
The News Reporter and Content Producer serve as WUCX-FM on-air production/talent, news anchor and provide technical assistance in the production needs of WUCX-FM radio. This involves the daily production of station audio needs, such as news writing, interviews, promotional announcements, public service announcements, underwriter announcements, day sponsor announcements and other audio products. The News Reporter and Content Producer will assist the local community host/producers and will generate web pages and update Internet resources as needed. This position will assist in the creation of the monthly newsletter through story and article writing. This position is a key member of all fundraising pledge drives and may also represent the radio station at various community events. This individual will also participate in Delta College Public Media local production activities as available and assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
FM Broadcast Operations:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of Delta College Public Radio.
  • Monitor broadcast quality of all local audio productions from local producers, students, and faculty.
  • Acquire and record national and regional radio programming assets from multiple programming sources.
  • Coordinate automated broadcast schedules to deliver programming seven days a week.

On-Air Talent and Production:
  • Serve as an on-air voice talent and host of "Morning Edition" and "Here and Now".
  • Serve as secondary on-air voice talent for fundraising. Assist the membership coordinator and development team in implementing all WUCX-FM fundraising campaigns.
  • Write and voice interstitial spots to promote upcoming programs on WUCX-FM.
  • Write and produce on-air promotional materials designed to promote Delta College events and Delta College Public Media programming and membership.

Off-Air Duties:
  • Produce daily station audio recordings for broadcast and non-broadcast needs, including: program length shows, promotional announcements, public service announcements, news reports, stock reports, weather updates, underwriter announcements, day sponsor announcements and other audio products.
  • Assist the Traffic Coordinator in the creation of the Delta College Public Media monthly newsletters.
  • Assist community producers and students with program productions.
  • Promote WUCX-FM through personal appearances during scheduled evening and weekend public events.
  • Generate departmental web page content and update Internet platforms such as Passport, etc., with digital content, as needed. Assist in creating and posting TV and radio social media content.
  • Participate with other Delta College Public Media TV and radio production staff members in local production efforts, as needed and available.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree or equivalent knowledge and skills. Major(s) required: Broadcasting, Journalism, Communications.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision is required.
  • Working knowledge of automated digital play-out computer systems.
  • Working knowledge of digital audio production, traffic & continuity systems
  • Use of appropriate editing software.
  • Knowledge and use of AI generating software.

Additional Experiences Considered
  • 1-3 years experience
  • Copy writing, news writing, and reporting preferred.
  • Prior on-air broadcasting experience
  • Good verbal and written skills
  • Working knowledge of digital audio production, traffic & continuity systems
  • Editing and production software knowledge should include: Adobe software, including Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Audition, Illustrator and Premiere Pro.
  • AI generating software may include (but not limited to) Adobe Firefly, ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or any new software that would be used for video, audio and photo production.
