Job description

Transylvania County Schools seeks a Technology Technician for the Technology Services Department at the Morris Education Center. Position is available Monday, August 17, 2026. Position is full-time and includes employment benefits; 12-month employment term. Applicants must possess a minimum of an Associate's Degree in a related field of study or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Coursework in computer or information technology may be substituted year-for-year for the required experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Interested candidates should submit an online employment application. NATURE OF WORK

An individual in this position performs skilled repair and maintenance of all technology-related equipment as well as technical support for all technology-related systems. Employee provides technical support to users including, but not limited to, technical advice on equipment setup and operation, general troubleshooting, and software installation. Employee reads and interprets schematics, wiring diagrams, and repair manuals to provide required technical support. Employee will also provide clerical support to the technology support program as well. 

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK

-Repairs, maintains, and upgrades technology-related equipment. 

-Reads and interprets schematics, wiring diagrams, and manuals. 

-Operates standard and specialized electronic devices in testing and troubleshooting computer and other technology-related equipment. 

-Uses a work-order tracking system for routine repair and maintenance of equipment. Refers complex problems to higher-level technical support. 

-Interacts effectively and professionally, and provides exceptional service at all times with exemplary customer service skills.
-Management of Active Directory Users and Groups

-Google Workspace for Education Management

-Support school-level personnel / EdTech Coaches

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

-Strong knowledge of computers and related technologies

-General knowledge of components of local area networks

-General knowledge of electronic devices

-Familiarity with the operation and uses of standard test equipment and systems

-Ability to systematically troubleshoot standard electronic devices

-Ability to communicate effectively with users

-General knowledge of A/V equipment
