WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We seek a talented and versatile Freelance Multimedia Journalist to join our team, based in Washington, DC. In this dynamic role, you will play a critical role in informing and engaging our viewers with the latest developments in the ever-evolving world of politics and business.

EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in broadcast journalism, with a strong focus on politics and business reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting on-camera interviews and delivering engaging reports.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and error-free copy.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to quickly identify and understand complex information.
  • A history of working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Familiarity with business and political terminology and concepts

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Investigate and report on various political stories, including breaking news, in-depth features, and investigative pieces.
  • Understand the intersection of politics and business and be able to report on both verticals easily.
  • Book and conduct interviews of your own sources and on-camera guests
  • Utilize advanced video editing and audio production skills to create polished and visually appealing content. Proficiency in DSLR cameras, video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro), and audio editing software (e.g., Adobe Audition) is essential.
  • Develop and write compelling articles and social posts that are informative, engaging, and adhere to journalistic standards.
  • Conduct on-camera interviews with political leaders, industry experts, and other relevant individuals, asking insightful questions to draw out valuable information.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with sources and interview subjects.
  • A natural on-camera presence with strong presentation and delivery skills.

This accounts for the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions; including but not limited to business or organizational needs, skill sets, experience and training, licensure, and certifications. The salary range for this role is $75 to $100 per hour
