We are looking for a highly motivated, proactive, and thorough Freelance Editor to join our Foreign Desk. As an editor, you work with overseas staff, set up transmissions, and remain proactive, especially during breaking news. You deliver a quality product in a fast-paced 24-hour news environment.

You must be willing to work weekends and nights and other various shifts as needed.

You will be offered the following shift:

Monday-Wednesday; 5:00 AM, ET - 1:00 PM, ET

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Arrange live video and correspondent live shots/phoners
  • Book live shots and support field crews covering international stories
  • Book satellite transmissions
  • Work with overseas staff to coordinate major breaking news events
  • Prepare the daily Foreign Rundown Editorial Meeting
  • Oversee the editing of Foreign news packages

WHAT YOU WILL NEED

  • Flexibility and available to work any shift, including weekends
  • Solid experience on a network or major market Assignment Desk
  • Strong interest in Foreign News
  • Solid news judgment
  • Ability to multitask and pay attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of satellite transmissions is a plus
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced news environment
  • Good news judgment and can react quickly to breaking news on an international scale
