*** Part- Time up to 29 Hours Per Week, Pay Rate Starting at $15.00 Per Hour***

Summary/Primary Purpose: To provide safe transportation to youth and adults for programs and services of the Omaha North Corps.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Visual inspection of the vehicles before and after pickup routes (locked doors, fuel levels, tire levels, etc.)
  • Pick up youth and adults safely in a timely manner for corps programs.
  • Support the youth and adult programs by engaging passengers in appropriate positive conversation on routes.
  • Obey all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Communicate any problems with discipline or unruly behavior of passengers with Corps Officers.
  • Ensure that all passengers are safely inside their homes or under appropriate supervision before leaving.
  • Return the vehicle to the corps at the completion of the route.
  • Organize and participate in recreational activities, such as games.
  • Assist in preparing and serving appropriate snacks or meals to program participants.
  • Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
  • Assist where needed in program areas (may include supervising children, monitoring audio/video needs, gym activities, Sunday School helpers, light cleaning duties, crafts, music programs, etc).
  • Assist with donation pick-up as directed by Corps Officers.
  • Driving is an essential function of this position.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
Education and/or Experience: Preferred High School Diploma or general education degree (GED) and no prior experience; will train on the job.
Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.
  • Ability to be flexible and able to work on multiple projects or tasks simultaneously
  • The ability to access payroll, timekeeping, and personal data via a web-based system.
  • Administrative skills to include the utilization of standard office equipment, data entry, 10-key, attention to detail, and filing.
  • Good communication skills both written and spoken, and ability to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.

Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
