Job description

Firearms OTR Driver

Rock Island Auction Companyย (RIAC), the #1 firearms auction house in the world, is searching for professional and reliable full-timeย Over-the-Road (OTR) Driver. NO CDL REQUIRED! With passion and knowledge for guns (and safety!), the OTR Driver maximizes earning potential for special bonuses by traveling across the country with assigned co-driver to transport guns and historic auction items while hearing stories first-hand and experiencing adventure.ย 

Highly competitive starting salary!ย 

This position has an hourly gross base rate of $21.63 and eligibility for insurance benefits after meeting the required waiting period. When not driving, full-time OTR Driver works in the warehouse, ships items to clients, sets up displays for auction, and/or completes inventory projects during standard hours of operation (8:00 a.m. โ€“ 5:00 p.m. CST).

What does a typical day for the RIAC Driver look like?
While there is typically no mundane and monotonous work, OTR drivers can expect the following:ย 

  • Traveling between RIAC facilities and client locations for pickup and delivery; and
  • Handling and ensuring safe loading and unloading of collectible firearmsย and bladed weapons in addition to other military and historicย collectibles.

How many OTR days can the RIAC Driver expect?
Full-time OTR Driver completes one (1) long trip per month with an average of 8-10 consecutive days, but actual length of trip may vary. In addition, full-time driver should expect 3-5 day OTR trips approx. 1โ€“3 times per month.ย

    • End over year Bonus based on total days on the road
      • 50 days - $2,000
      • 100 days - $4,000
      • 150 days - $6,000
      • 180 days - $10,000
    • Drivers who are on the road after 8 days also receive a bonus day off!

Qualified candidates meet the following requirements:

  • Valid driverโ€™s license;
  • Ability to obtain Illinois Class C driverโ€™s license (Class C for Iowa residents), or equivalent;
  • Ability to pass DOT physical;
  • Favorable driving record without DUI conviction(s) within the past seven (7) years; and
  • Ability to obtain and maintain active FOID card status (Illinois residents only).

Requirements such as Class C Illinois driverโ€™s license, DOT physical, and FOID card are paid by the company.
