Independent Contractor Position (1099)

Position Overview

The Law Office of Carlos A. Medina, PLLC is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Personal Injury Attorney to serve as an Independent Contractor in Tucson, Arizona. This opportunity is ideal for a lawyer with at least five (5) years of personal injury experience who desires professional autonomy while working with an established plaintiff-focused law practice.

The contractor will manage personal injury matters from intake through settlement, mediation, arbitration, or trial, while providing exceptional client service and aggressive advocacy for injured individuals throughout Tucson, Arizona.

Service Area: Tucson, Arizona only.

Position Type

• Independent Contractor (1099)

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience handling personal injury cases

• Demonstrated experience with:

  • Motor vehicle accident claims

  • Premises liability cases

  • Wrongful death matters

  • Dog bite claims

  • Insurance negotiations

  • Litigation and trial preparation

Licensing

• Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona

• Licensed to practice law in Arizona

Skills and Competencies

• Strong legal research and writing skills

• Excellent negotiation abilities

• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery

• Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload

• Strong client communication and relationship-building skills

• Professional courtroom presence

• Effective time management and organizational skills

• Familiarity with case management software and electronic filing systems

Primary Responsibilities

Case Management

• Manage personal injury cases from intake through resolution

• Evaluate liability, damages, and insurance coverage issues

• Develop case strategies and litigation plans

• Maintain regular communication with clients regarding case status

Litigation

• Draft and file:

  • Complaints

  • Answers

  • Motions

  • Discovery requests and responses

  • Settlement demands

  • Mediation statements

  • Trial documents

• Conduct:

  • Depositions

  • Mediations

  • Arbitrations

  • Court appearances

  • Settlement conferences

Client Advocacy

• Advise clients regarding legal rights and options

• Negotiate with insurance carriers and defense counsel

• Pursue maximum compensation for injured clients

• Maintain high standards of professionalism and ethics

Business Development

• Assist with client consultations and case evaluations

• Foster referral relationships within the Tucson legal community

• Contribute to the firm's growth and reputation

Preferred Qualifications

• Trial experience in Arizona state courts

• Existing professional network in Tucson

• Experience with catastrophic injury cases

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are highly desirable

• Experience using legal case management systems

Compensation

Compensation will be competitive and may be structured as:

• Percentage of attorney fees generated

• Revenue-sharing arrangement

• Hourly contractor rate

• Hybrid compensation model

Compensation structure will be negotiated based on experience, qualifications, and anticipated workload.
