Job Title: Senior Database Administrator
Job Location: Bethesda, MD / Hybrid / Remote

CyberData Technologies is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our team of technology professionals for an IT support contract for the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) Clinical Trials Database (CTDB). The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a clinical trials team in a structured environment that includes mature change management processes, peer reviews, Atlassian tools, and version control through Git.

Required Skills (include but not limited to):

  • Administer database environments across Linux, Unix/Solaris, and Cloud environments.

  • Monitor and maintain relational databases ensuring performance, availability, and reliability.

  • Perform database performance tuning and optimization for Oracle and PostgreSQL systems.

  • Develop SQL queries, packages, functions, procedures, triggers, reports, and extracts for internal and external source data.

  • Support data migration from legacy and modern systems into enterprise databases.

  • Lead data mart design, development, and maintenance for reporting and analytics.

  • Design and optimize data transformations between application and reporting schemas.

  • Support migration of database services to AWS environments, including RDS.

  • Support migration of database environments from Oracle to PostgreSQL.

  • Support database upgrades, patching cycles, and system maintenance activities.

  • Design and manage database schemas for application development.

  • Create and maintain development, test, and production database environments.

  • Implement and manage backup and recovery strategies using tools such as RMAN.

  • Provide database support to developers and other stakeholders.

  • Document database configurations, procedures, and operational guides.

  • Mentor developers and junior team members on best practices and performance optimization. 

Required Skills (include but not limited to):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field.

  • 12–15+ years of total database administration experience with at least:

    • 5+ years with Oracle
    • 3–5+ years with PostgreSQL
    • 3+ years with AWS/RDS
  • Strong SQL and PL/SQL development skills.

  • Experience with ETL processes and data migration.

  • Experience with database monitoring, performance tuning, and administration.

  • Experience installing, upgrading, and patching database systems.

  • Experience with AWS cloud services, especially RDS.

  • Experience with report development and delivery (Cognos preferred).

  • Experience with Scrum/Agile approaches and practices (Scrum certifications preferred).

  • Familiarity with version control and workflow management tools (Git and Atlassian JIRA/Confluence preferred).• Experience working in federal or health-related environments (NIH/HHS preferred).
