Job description

Job Description:

Seeking a hands-on Data Governance Platform Consultant to lead the implementation and configuration of a metadata management solution-Atlan or Atlation-within its enterprise data ecosystem. This role is primarily focused on infrastructure alignment, product deployment, and environment configuration, with minimal coding and no data science responsibility.

You'll work closely with internal Infrastructure teams, the Data Governance office, and business units to stand up the platform, establish integrations with data sources, and build foundational data cataloging and lineage capabilities. The ideal candidate will have previous hands-on experience standing up data governance platforms in enterprise environments and configuring them to align with both security and operational policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the deployment, configuration, and environment setup of Atlan or Atlation within Fortress's infrastructure ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with Infrastructure and Security teams to ensure secure and scalable implementation (authentication, user provisioning, network/firewall, etc.).
  • Coordinate with vendor solution engineers as needed during installation, upgrades, and platform optimization.
  • Once deployed, connect the platform to key data sources (e.g., Snowflake, S3, SQL Server, Tableau, Python notebooks, etc.) to build out an enterprise data catalog and lineage maps.
  • Configure metadata policies, tagging structures, glossary, and user permissions.
  • Support the Data Governance team in testing the platform's lineage, search, collaboration, and audit features.
  • Provide training and documentation for business users, data stewards, and IT stakeholders post-implementation.
  • Contribute to the roadmap for platform enhancements, integrations, and automation as business maturity evolves.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, metadata management, or enterprise platform deployment.
  • Hands-on experience with Atlan or Atlation (or similar tools like Alation, Collibra, Informatica).
  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT environments including networking, IAM, and system integration.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and connecting cloud-native data tools to metadata platforms.
  • Basic understanding of data modeling, data dictionaries, and lineage concepts-no coding required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with Infrastructure, Security, and Data Management teams in a cross-functional enterprise.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills; ability to translate technical requirements to business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Atlan or Atlation deployments in financial services or asset management environments.
  • Knowledge of data privacy, governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK), and regulatory data compliance (e.g., SEC, GDPR).
  • Experience integrating metadata platforms with tools like Snowflake, Tableau, Power BI, Airflow, or dbt.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD or scripting for light automation (e.g., YAML, Terraform) is a plus, but not required.
