General Summary:
The Assistant Athletic Performance Coach will assist the Director of Athletic Performance in all aspects of a collegiate strength and conditioning program including design and implementation of sport specific speed, strength, agility and conditioning programs for assigned sports. The Assistant Athletic Performance Coach will be assigned duties that co-ordinate with the daily functions of the Bain Athletic Center Weight Room. Other duties include supervision of graduate assistant(s) and student interns along with daily upkeep and maintenance of the weight room and other duties assigned.
Responsibilities:
  • Instruct assigned student-athletes and teams in proper techniques for strength training, conditioning and agility training.
  • Program for specific needs of assigned sports.
  • Supervise GA/Interns.
  • Assist in the recruitment of prospective student athletes.
  • Maintains 100% compliance with timely completion of required System, University and job-specific online training courses.

Necessary Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in related field or combination of education and experience
  • Two (2) years of college strength & conditioning experience required.
  • Experience training large groups.
  • One of the following certifications required: CSCS or SCCC
  • CPR/AED certification required/testing completed upon hire.
  • Obtain and maintain a valid driver's license and qualify to operate a vehicle within Texas A&M University System guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree.
  • Prior experience with collegiate athletics.
  • Applicants should have the ability to communicate effectively with student-athletes, sports medicine staff, sport coaches, members of the University community & possess good management skills.
  • Represent the University in a professional and responsible manner; and exhibit excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Adherence to & an appreciation for NCAA & Lone Star Conference regulations & the ability to instill those values in subordinates & student-athletes will be expected.
