What does an AT&T attorney do?

An AT&T attorney is a legal professional who provides legal advice and representation for AT&T, focusing on issues such as telecommunications law, regulatory compliance, contract negotiation, intellectual property, and litigation. They help ensure that the company operates within federal, state, and local laws, and may be involved in drafting and reviewing contracts, managing disputes, and advising on mergers or acquisitions. AT&T attorneys often work closely with internal business teams and external legal counsel to protect the company’s interests and navigate complex legal challenges.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an AT&T attorney?

To thrive as an AT&T Attorney, you need a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, bar admission, strong legal research and analytical skills, and experience in telecommunications, corporate, or regulatory law. Familiarity with contract management systems, legal research databases like Westlaw or LexisNexis, and compliance tools is highly valued. Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities help you effectively advise business units and manage stakeholder relationships. These skills are crucial to ensuring AT&T's legal compliance, mitigating risk, and supporting strategic business goals in a complex, regulated industry.

What are some common challenges faced by attorneys working at AT&T, and how can they be addressed?

Attorneys at AT&T often navigate complex legal issues related to telecommunications, technology, and regulatory compliance. One common challenge is staying abreast of rapidly evolving regulations and industry standards, which requires continuous learning and adaptability. Additionally, attorneys frequently collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineering and public policy, which demands strong communication and negotiation skills. To address these challenges, attorneys should engage in ongoing professional development and foster strong relationships both within the legal department and across the organization.

Job description

Help Us Build the Team Behind One of California's Top Plaintiff Employment Firms

At Shegerian & Associates, we've recovered over $1 billion for workers across California. That kind of result doesn't happen by accident. It starts with hiring the right attorneys. We're growing our in-house talent acquisition team and looking to add an Attorney Recruiter who will focus specifically on attorney hiring.

This role is for someone who already lives in the legal recruiting world. You know the law schools, you've worked OCI, and you've built genuine relationships with career services offices, but you're also just as comfortable sourcing experienced attorneys, working passive candidates, and tapping into bar associations and legal networks across the state. You know how to turn a casual conversation into a future hire, whether that hire is a 3L or a senior associate. Our open roles aren't easy to fill. We're after top-tier talent at every level, and that takes creativity, persistence, and the kind of follow-up that separates good recruiters from great ones.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with our existing talent acquisition team to support the full attorney recruitment cycle, including sourcing, outreach, screening, scheduling, and evaluating candidates from first contact through offer
  • Support our law school recruiting strategy, including OCI participation, resume collects, callback interviews, and on-campus events
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with law school career services offices, student organizations, affinity groups, and faculty across California and key target schools
  • Proactively identify and engage passive attorney candidates through LinkedIn, bar association directories, alumni networks, and trusted referrals
  • Tackle hard-to-fill searches with creative sourcing strategies. These are not roles that get filled by posting and waiting
  • Bring relentless follow-up. Candidates don't fall off your radar, and "not right now" becomes "yes" six months later
  • Represent S&A at legal networking events, bar association mixers, CLEs, law school events, and recruitment activities, including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Conduct initial interviews to assess qualifications, communication, and cultural fit
  • Partner directly with firm leadership to understand what each attorney role truly needs and build a smart sourcing strategy to find it
  • Keep our ATS and recruitment pipeline accurate, organized, and actionable
  • Support a smooth, thoughtful onboarding experience that makes new hires feel welcome from day one

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 year of recruiting experience in the legal field, with direct experience recruiting attorneys
  • Demonstrated experience with OCI and law school recruiting. You understand the cycle, the timelines, and how to build relationships with career services
  • Strong relationships within the California legal community, including law school career services offices, bar associations, and practicing attorneys
  • A proven track record of filling hard-to-fill attorney roles through creative sourcing and proactive outreach
  • Exceptional follow-up. You treat every candidate relationship as a long-term investment, not a one-time transaction
  • A natural connector who's personable, polished, and trusted quickly by candidates and stakeholders alike
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work seamlessly within an existing talent acquisition team
  • Comfortable and confident with cold outreach, networking events, and representing the firm publicly
  • Highly organized with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in ATS software, LinkedIn, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bachelor's degree

Benefits

What We Offer:

  • Industry-Leading Benefits:
  • Competitive pay-$85,000-$125,000 BOE
  • Firm pays 100% of premiums for dental and vision
  • Firm pays 100% of all Silver-level medical plans
  • Firm contributes approximately 10% toward retirement (3% Safe Harbor + 7% Profit Sharing)
  • $500 annual FSA contribution
  • Time for Life: Accrual of 80 hours of PTO (additional 40 hours on 3rd anniversary), 40 hours sick pay, plus your birthday off as a fully paid day.

If this sounds like the work you've been looking for, we'd love to hear from you!
