Job description

Team: Back Office Operations & Global Business Finance Technology

Engagement: Consultant role with a right-to-hire path. You’ll be expected to contribute quickly, operate with high ownership, and help establish (or raise) engineering standards through hands-on delivery.

Position Overview
Our client is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer who builds systems that other engineers want to maintain. Someone who values clarity over cleverness, chooses proven patterns over novelty, and writes code that reads cleanly and evolves safely. Our platforms support Operations and Finance workflows where correctness, auditability, and reliability matter.
This is a hands-on role. You’ll influence architecture through delivery, help shape standards through example, and raise the quality bar across both backend and frontend.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver full-stack features end-to-end: backend services, APIs, and modern UI components.
  • Contribute to architecture and technical direction with a pragmatic, cloud-first mindset.
  • Apply clean architecture principles: clear boundaries, cohesive domain modeling, separation of concerns, and maintainable abstractions.
  • Write high-quality, testable code with disciplined engineering practices (PR hygiene, reviews, refactoring, and documentation where it adds leverage).
  • Build production-ready services: observability, failure-mode thinking, performance awareness, and secure-by-default design.
  • Partner with product and business stakeholders to translate real workflows into software that is intuitive and trusted.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery (analysis, prototyping, test generation, refactoring, troubleshooting), while applying strong verification and accountability for outcomes.
  • Mentor and elevate the team—through design conversations, code reviews, and steady technical leadership.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including meaningful full-stack delivery and architectural responsibility.
  • Strong modern Java skills (Java 17+ preferred) and experience with contemporary engineering practices and frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot, testing frameworks, build tooling).
  • Solid frontend experience building maintainable UIs in a modern framework (Vue.js preferred; React acceptable if you can ramp quickly).
  • Experience designing APIs, working with data models, and making pragmatic tradeoffs around performance, correctness, and evolvability.
  • A strong commitment to clean, bug-resistant code: testing discipline, thoughtful design, and careful review habits.
  • Clear communicator and collaborative partner across disciplines and time zones.
  • No NIH mindset: you value reuse, standards, and proven libraries. You build what’s necessary and integrate what already works.

Tech Environment (What You’ll Likely Touch)

  • Java as the primary language; Kotlin and Python used pragmatically where they fit best
  • Front-end primarily Vue.js (with some legacy ExtJS)
  • Data stores such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and CosmosDB
  • Eventing and asynchronous patterns; workflow orchestration where it provides stronger reliability guarantees

Nice to Have

  • Experience with eventing/messaging systems (Azure Event Hubs or similar).
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration (Temporal or similar) and a strong sense for when it’s the better tool.
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications while keeping business continuity and operational stability.
  • Comfort in control-oriented domains (operations, finance, accounting) where trust and correctness are non-negotiable.

Why Join

  • Build software that directly improves how critical Operations and Finance teams run the firm.
  • Influence architecture through real delivery—not just diagrams—and see your work used quickly.
  • Join a team culture that values simplicity, readability, and maintainability over novelty.
  • Work in an environment that embraces AI as a productivity multiplier while keeping engineering judgment and correctness at the center.
