Job description

Build projects that keep industry moving. Refractory Service Inc. is hiring an experienced Project Manager and Assistant Project Manager to lead industrial construction and refractory projects from planning through completion. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented construction PM and/or assistant level PM who can coordinate people, schedules, materials, budgets, customers, suppliers, and field teams while keeping safety, quality, cost, and customer satisfaction at the center of every project.

What You Will Do
  • Manage industrial construction and refractory projects of varying size and complexity from planning through completion.
  • Develop and execute project installation plans, job procedures, schedules, and project documentation.
  • Coordinate with customers, field operations, estimating, procurement, suppliers, and internal leadership to keep projects aligned.
  • Monitor project status, milestones, budget performance, material flow, change orders, and overall progress.
  • Identify project risks early and communicate changes, issues, and solutions clearly.
  • Support cost control by comparing actual costs to estimates and adjusting project plans as needed.
  • Oversee scope of work, contract requirements, delivery fulfillment, service quality, and customer expectations.
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules, change proposals, reports, and related documentation using Excel and other business systems.

Note that the assistant project manager will have slightly reduced autonomy and responsibility levels.

Knowledge of construction management or construction project coordination.

5–10 years of related project management experience in industrial or commercial construction. (3 year minimum for assistant level role).

Associate degree in construction management, project management, or a related field. (Preferred for assistant level role).

Strong organization, attention to detail, communication, problem-solving, and decision‑making skills.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, changing deadlines, customer needs, and unforeseen project situations.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Preferred:
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional certification for more PM role.
  • Refractory industry experience.
  • Experience with construction or project management applications such as Procore.
