Job description

The Role:

As an Associate SDET for Leads Platform Team at Realtor.com (RDC), you are a valuable contributor who supports the quality of the web and mobile interfaces that power our primary consumer and agent interactions. You will assist in ensuring the reliability, performance, and seamless quality of essential digital interactions, with a particular focus on critical user journeys.

What You'll Do:

Strategic Planning & Quality Execution

  • Contribute to quality initiatives for client-side experiences, focusing on user interface correctness, visual consistency, and front-end performance metrics.
  • Execute assigned portions of the layered test strategy for your squad, primarily focusing on End-to-End (E2E) and integration testing using modern automation frameworks.
  • Assist in identifying quality risks in client-side flows (e.g., cross-browser compatibility, form validation, and state management) and focus on writing and executing actionable Playwright scripts.

Technical Contribution (API and Backend testing)

  • Perform hands-on testing for lead applications, start building API Testing for browser automation, and validating data integrity through basic queries.
  • Apply principles of testability, including focusing on contract validation (e.g., for GraphQL schemas), verifying complex business logic, and ensuring data integrity across service interactions.
  • Work with developers to ensure components and client-side logic are validated early in the development lifecycle.

Test Automation & Performance

  • Write and update test scripts within the robust automation suites using Python.
  • Assist with executing API and contract validation for GraphQL schemas.
  • Participate in the maintenance and execution of automated UI checks integrated into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., CircleCI, GitHub Actions) and assist in triaging failing checks to maintain a healthy build signal.
  • Support performance testing efforts for client-side load times and core web vitals using tools like k6.

Collaboration & Learning

  • Participate fully in Agile/Scrum processes, ensuring UI quality signals are included in the definition of done.
  • Collaborate with Product and Design partners to translate user requirements into reliable automated acceptance tests.
  • Actively learn from team members and utilize shared best practices and utilities within the automation and development codebases.

What You'll Bring:

  • 1+ year of experience in software and/or test engineering, with a focus on web applications and back-end testing or development.
  • Familiarity with testing GraphQL APIs, including writing simple queries.
  • Proficiency in Python and an understanding of reusable test utilities.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and an understanding of techniques to reduce flakiness in test suites.
  • Familiarity with browser-based debugging tools and observability platforms to isolate client-side errors.
  • Experience with visual regression testing or accessibility (a11y) testing is a plus.
  • Interest in exploring and applying AI/Agentic testing methodologies (e.g., LLMs, Claude, Copilot) to enhance test coverage, generate data, or accelerate automation script creation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
