Position Description:

This position requires strong managerial, business development, relationship building, delegation, and 
communication skills with all levels of staff as well as good organizational skills. This position requires the ability to pursue, achieve and complete projects as the Project Manager and/or client manager. This position requires periods of intense concentration as well as average strength and stamina. This position is within a normal office environment with little exposure to noise, dust, fumes, etc., and requires frequent travel. This person should have strong people and team building skills to effectively communicate with clients and other staff. This person should also be highly motivated, organized, and able to interpret technical data and perform technical writing. This position requires exceptional interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in networking within the consultant and client communities
Typical responsibilities include:
  • Operational:
  • Responsible for project financial performance for one or more projects. 
  • Track monthly workload to coordinate staffing needs with the Area Lead and other Project managers and recommend staff changes as needed 
  • Mentor project managers and staff 
  • Take on project manager assignments including responsibility for budget, schedule, quality, and staff management 
  • Review, comment and submit for approval all contracts through internal channels and seek input from Area Lead, as appropriate 
  • Accountable for project team delivery, quality, and schedule adherence 
  • Effectively coordinate activities with the Area Lead 
  • Accountable for personal performance as a Project Manager/Client Manager 
  • Develop and be responsible for project and task pricing
  • Responsible for project profitability
  • Responsible for timely invoicing and accounts receivable collections
  • Recommend training/seminars, memberships, and coordinate with other Area Leads/Senior 
  • Project Managers within the market segment 
  • Responsible for Utilization and Projects in Trouble 
  • Approve time sheets if a supervisor 
  • Accountable for continual technical project approach consistent with Wade Trim standards
  • Sales/Business Development:
  • Responsible for client satisfaction 
  • Review proposal scope, pricing, and other content 
  • Solicit input on major pursuits from Area Lead and other key staff 
  • Assist with achievement of market segment sales goals, business development and client relations 
  • Responsible for sales efforts, proposal preparation, presentations, and budgets 
  • Responsible for new client contact development 
  • Review RFPs and lead or support pursuits when assigned 
  • Create the best project teams 
  • Assist with market segment growth initiatives 
  • Corporate:
  • Identify and recommend training, seminars, and conferences to MSL
  • Support the MSL in developing Business Plan goals
  • Maintain a safe working environment
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Professional Engineering License required
Skills/Experience:
  • 10+ years of related engineering experience
  • 10+ years of related engineering management experience
  • previous experience leading designs for municipal clients preferred
  • Previous experience in serving as engineer of record for municipal design projects preferred
  • Expectation to participate in Council meetings, and previous participation and presentation experience preferred
  • Serving as contracted City engineer preferred
  • Participation and leadership in relevant professional societies preferred and expected
